Surely this young (ish!) english coach should be given a chance to cope in super league again?? perhaps with harlequins? done wonders at fev and did a good job at Leeds before.

Wasn't that the idea of Tony Smith taking over as coach in 2004, so that Powell would get his chance again when Smith left?

For some reason Powell was regarded as a laughing stock despite taking a young Leeds team from nowhere to a 2nd place finish in the league table, a final eliminator and a Challenge Cup final in his last season, maybe he wasn't the man to get them over the line in terms of silverware, but he did a good job and the foundations put down in his time clearly reaped their rewards.

Started his coaching at the mighty cougars, then got taken to leeds by Hetherington, along with a load of other players for a bag of beans.

Mind you the bag od beans kept that verison of the Keighley club going for a while so it was a good deal

Yep, and that Leeds team in 2003 were a damn good team that but for some brian carney brilliance in the play off eliminator, could have reached the grand final. If agar, mcdermott, mcrae, matterson, and earlier mcnamara can be head coaches in super league then i see no reason why powell cant.
