| I see Saints have signed a young winger from Northampton RL by the name of Dan Brotherton. Doesn't seem to have gone badly on debut either[idebutant winger Daniel Brotherton a sniff of a gap on the outside. 60 metres later he was placing the ball down by the sticks for his first try in the red vee having beaten three on the outside in the process.[/i
[iJust to make sure we all knew it wasn’t a fluke, he then repeated the feat from the restart.[/i The impressive Greg Wilde made the initial break through the line and fed the big winger on half way. He simply put his foot on the gas and rounded the full back with ease to score in virtually the same position.'"
You wouldn't catch Wigan doing that now would you
I know a Bristol Sonics player ended up at Leeds Rhinos. Are these isolated incidents or is the amateur system outside of the M62 corridor starting to bear fruit? Anyone with any insight into his potential and the standard of the league in general?

Quote: Roverswall "Would that be the same HKR who have signed a young lad from Grimsby?
That HKR you mean?'" Also we are asking for nothing.
If you take a look at this reds.originalreddevils.com/2008/ ... on-ruling/ you will see it's been the rule for a while now.
Also if we were so keen to keep our foreigners (sp) and sign loads more then why did we get rid of Fitzhenry,Gene, Azuie, Gannon, Dorn, Webster (James) etc, etc?
Perhaps we felt we needed better players?
BTW speaking of players that have left us have you seen who left us last year?
Fitzhenry, Gene, Azuie I count 3 overseas there and we replaced them with..............................1 overseas player in Joel Clinton.
Also you mention us getting more but you do know there is every chance that Ben Fisher will be leaving us for a start dont you?
Now take into account that we will probably bring in 1/2 that would mean we would infact in the last 2 years have 1/2 less overseas players.

I have no doubt that HKR will adhere to the rules on overseas players in future.......and that they will try to field as local a team as possible. It's just that at the moment, you aren't doing it.
The fact that Saints are picking up players from outside the heartlands would point to some of the bigger clubs seeing the bigger picture and targeting good british talent for the future. Some other clubs are still seeing the too big a picture and attracting talent from father afield...like Queensland and NSW

| Your an idiot gutterfax you really are and all this from the team that was founded by Australians Christ you used have 90% plus Aussies in your team. Hull kr is still having to learn the super league way of life so to speak you have had it handed on a plate I think we are doing really well considering I think quins to are doing well with player development but only because of all the help you have received from the rfl as well as super league

Enjoy your crusade even though its does seem to be missplaced.
And BTW smilies doesn't cover up the fact you were unable to disprove anything I said which pretty much discounted everything you posted in the post I quoted.
Pleas feel free to answer my points though.

| I thought he was still only on trial? Great news if he has signed, that'll be our third player contracted in an SL academy if he does. Plus another three on Championship scholarships.
Dan came to us in our first season, 2007, in the merit league. We didn't have a junior set up then, but because we were merit league rather than "proper league" we were allowed to play him. Dan was on Northampton RUs scholarship programme as a second row forward at the time, but with his pace (he was also a county level sprinter) it was pretty clear he should be a winger. Apart from a bit of time at fullback, that's where he's played for us. When we did form juniors in 2008, Dan remained in the open age side. Northampton RU commitments meant we didn't get that many games for us in 2008, but in 2009 he played almost the whole season. Dan scored the try that probably put us out of reach in the Grand Final that year.
As well as his flat out pace, he's got the asset key to modern wingers - being able to jump at kicks in attack and defence. He's 6'4" and a fairly solid lad, great pace and great leaping ability too.

Why do you think anyone would find it surprising that if people are given a chance to play RL (wherever they are from) they might display an aptitude for it?
Well done to the lad for getting a contract. Well done Saints for spotting him. I don't see how this has anything to do with HKR.

Desi Williams signed from London Skolars.
London Skolars the professional team? Not the same. I heard Desi had an Australian accent from watching Home and Away too much, that probably explains it
