| their new coach is clearly the best theyve had in decades.
i used to read his articles in Big League magazine explaining rl tactics and he struck me as one of the most knowledgable in the game.
and the scary thing is the imports they have for next year are light years ahead of the current crop.
if the club can hang onto maguire i can see their trophy cabinet getting full again

| Only until Royce unleashes his cutting edge tactics and game plans to nullify what Wigan are currently deploying.

| Has nobody told him that it's forbidden to praise Wigan on here and that we've not won anything yet and won't because of Wire/Saints/Leeds/The RFL?

Wigan couldn't dominate anything without blatantly cheating. They've got a new coach who has changed how they play to a negative, defense based philosophy. They are a refereeing edict about ridiculous holding down away from running bottom. They are already out of the running for 50% of the major trophies this year and this is during their 'boom time' when Saints and Leeds have been decimated by injuries.
And on Maguire, with his stock soaring, just how long will it be before he's off to a first team coaching role in the NRL? If he has any ambition at all he won't be in SL for that long. Unless he's brought his Melbourne salary cap rorting with him and he thinks it'll be easier to win things in SL where the tinpot RFL won't be able to catch on to all that rorting

if wigan are smart theyll keep maguire for as long as possible.
once the trophy cabinet can hold no more then let him go.

| I think wigan will do next year what saints did in 2006. they've added quality to take them that extra step which we did in 2006 by bringing in Leon Pryce.

This persona of yours is getting a bit dull. Though of course these could be your genuine opinions, in which case some needs to pat you on the head and smile and nod condescendingly.

| I think the title should be edited to ''wigan will be up there in super league for years to come''.
No team dominates these days and saints, warrington and leeds will all be sniffing about. I doubt they'll maintain their week in week out performances this year for years to come. They'll be peaks and troughs. not even saints managed it. Awesome in 06 but then ask their supporters and they'll tell you they weren't as good in 07 08 or 09 and they won the title in none of those years, and lets remember wigan have won nothing (yet).
Other teams will adapt and change, coaches will come and go.
But we always see this from fickle fans of sport. As soon as team x does well, it's ''team x will dominated for the next trillion years''.

This is why it's foolhardy to predict a team will dominate.
Picture this. Mcguires stock soars and he leaves for a top nrl after next season. By which time McClennan will have left leeds and they'll have fresh input. Saints youngsters will have evolved and suddenly you could have leeds and saints at the very top again.

| And even if Madge moves on, don't dismiss Shaun Wane, who has served a wonderfully successful apprenticeship in the U-18s/Academy and Reserves, and has taken to the Lead Assistant role like a duck to water. He has massive passion for Wigan, has the respect (and fear!) of everyone at the club and is now learning from one of the best in the game, albeit Madge is only in his first year as Head Coach.
Maguire will be at Wigan for 3 seasons until at least the end of 2012, by which time I, and most Wigan fans, are confident Wane will be more than ready to take the helm.

| Heard an interview on the radio with Wane, he sounded like he didnt much know what he was doing to me...
As for Wigan dominating, lets see what next season brings eh, they are looking good at the moment for sure, but a couple of crucial injuries could see them devastated.
Besides, they will soon ship off their young talent and replace it with journeymen aussies

| I think what Maguire has achieved with the same squad BN had is impressive.
I cant stand the way they play but it takes a lot of discipline, concentration and hard work for it to be effective and they have backed it up week after week.
The young forwards look very good this year.
As long as the rules dont penalise that style of play then they will be up there.
His recruitment for next year will certainly increase the quality as will the return of Hock.
BUT until they win a crunch game and lift a piece of silverware, there will always be a doubt in crunch games that this style is effective.
