Could this be the best weekend ever for Wales Rugby League?

Yesterday Crusaders under 15s did the double over Harlequins winning 18-14.

Today, Crusaders win 32-36 at Leeds and South Wales Scorpions, with their weakest side ever on paper, beat Rochdale 30-25 who'd won four games in a row before today.

Also today, two teams of 13 year olds fought out a fantastic South Wales schools final where Cyfarthfa from Merthyr beat Maesydderwen from Ystradgynlais 48-22. A lot of the lads showed great promise and are hoping to make RL their sport of choice.

The Scorpions side had 15 Welsh players in the side (13 Welsh born for those who are picky). The Crusaders side had three Welsh players too including Lloyd White who was called up from the Scorpions.

A great day all round and adds to last week where Crusaders beat Bradford and 12 primary schools side played in a Nines tournament final in South Wales.

All is progressing well. We now need to qualify for the Four Nations in 2011.

I believe the Welsh National Team go into a semi final once. It might have been a few times actually.

But on a domestic front this has to be the biggest weekend for Welsh Rugby League.

Keep it up eusa_clap.gif

It's wonderful to see Wales building for the future, their development is coming along very nicely indeed. The pro teams will have their ups and downs so it's important that there is a good base of kids playing and amateur clubs.

Based on the evidence of last week's international you've got a better chance than France... just got to make sure you see off Scotland and Ireland!

Any word on where this Autumn's internationals will be? Hope at least one will be in Wrexham because I might be tempted to take a trip down there, seeing as England's games are slightly off the M62 corridor this winter...

Forgive me for saying this but exactly how many of the team that beat Leeds were actually Welsh??

Apart from the fact Wrexham is in Wales and they wear red shirts with 3 feathers on them there honestly is not much of a link to the principality is there?

if you were actually interested in the topic you would have read the OP enough to answer your own question.

Am I right in thinking that Wales will have at least two home games in the Euro Nations? In which case it'd make sense to have one game at Wrexham and one at Neath? Would be a huge boost for them to qualify for the Four Nations where I'd like to think they'd play at least one game at Swansea or Cardiff.

Good to see Welsh RL progressing at all levels from junior to fully pro. Does anyne know what the junior and playing numbers are now compared to say 5 years ago? If that has increased substantially then the future is indeed very bright for Wales!

Great to see the Welsh game making strides but lets not get carried away in terms of at international level.

We have done that with France.

France have circa 30 1/2 decent players to choose from for their international side.

Wales must have 3.

So I cant see Wales doing better than France unless it was filled with hertigate players.

Also I reckon Wales playing in the 4 nations would be significantly more embarrassing than the French.

Lets push for Tolouse in super league to bolster their playing numbers and once the Crusaders are predomianantly filled with Welsh players then possibly we can hope for a 4 Nations appearance.

I remember Wales giving us a scare in the 2000 RLWC!

But that was 10 years ago.

I agree, if they made the 4 nations now they wouldnt stand a chance of winning any games
