Simply because its is been played in England meaning that the Aussies don’t like playing over here and that we can beat NZ over here. Same happens in Australia where England players don’t like to play so the same goes for Aussie players in England.

Its happened in the world cup and it happened in the world club challenge.

I just hope that one day players will drop the whole international ignorance stuff so that we can finally see who is the best team in the world. But for this year an England win will do nicely in the Tri Nations.

England has a decent chance of winning the 4 nations.

We were rubbish in the World Cup but the criticism has been hysterical and over the top icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif

Of course not, but it's also the 4 nations icon_whisper.gif icon_smile.gif

In all seriousness, there was truth in what he was saying...even if he didn't understand why he was sayign it icon_biggrin.gif

There is no coincidence that the England team made up of Saints/Leeds players failed. Both teams play with speed around the ruck and gain momentum that way, playing under australian conditions with the grapple doesn't allow for this.

Under 'our' conditions I think we could turn them over, depends how the convicts adapt and they usually adapt well unlike ourselves. It'll be tight.

Be interesting to see if we adopt NRL rules in SL as it'll turn the competition on it's head.

winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11 //www.dragons.com.au/shop/index.asp //dragons.leagueunlimited.com/ //www.showroom.com.au/dragons/drag ... 1intro.htm:34439.jpg

Must admit I'd like to see our ptb's as slow as in the NRL to encourage smarter play from the half-backs, whether any of the current crop could cope is the question. It may take years for clubs to bring some through that would be up to scratch.

Yep, our half backs would be half backs again, it'd also benefit Wigan's style of play as well icon_cool.gif

I understand the point you're making but I disagree.

Quote: "There is no coincidence that the England team made up of Saints/Leeds players failed. Both teams play with speed around the ruck and gain momentum that way, playing under australian conditions with the grapple doesn't allow for this.'"

The fact that Leeds and Saints are so much better than the rest is why they can play that way. If they regularly came up against teams that can match them for skill and athleticsm you'd need more creativity to break them down.

icon_razz.gifIMP: Lack of strength in depth is the issue IMO, not the speed of the PTBs. Leeds and Saints can break teams down without having to do anything great icon_confused.gif

Yes thats why Saints / Leeds play that way but that style of play will never have worked in the world cup due to the grapple tackle, the aussies only had 'our' ref once and look what that threw up.

Yep lack of depth is a major probs which relates to other issues we have in our game, but it was still the style of play we struggled with. As has been mentioned our half backs were clueless as they are used to playing with more momentum. I think this years tournament will close.

Well thats pretty much my point, I can't understand why we have different rulings and interpretations. They need to bang their heads together and sort it out!!
