| There is more that's been added but you'd need to search the Aussie press. At least five (including Gallen) have been offered a retrospective deal basically admitting wrong doing and accepting a ban backdated which would run until end of November 2014. Effectively a three month ban. Otherwise a future two year ban is the threat. At least a couple of SL based players are potentially threatened, Aiton at Leeds is one I believe.

| I don't want to re-hatch what I put on the Leeds board, but basically it was on Aussie breakfast news the morning that if the players admit guilt they will get a 3 game ban. The media are saying ASADA don't have a leg to stand on and are desperate, as after 2 years they have zero evidence against the players.

| "As someone with a complicated family background, it made me think about how I had clung to rugby league as a construct, and artifice that helped me with my own identity.
And it made me understand how the more I learned about my family background and what led me to where I am, the more I was able to let go of the more obsessive elements of my fandom.
We should all be open to the idea that our obsession with elements of pop culture, including professional sports and specifically rugby league, is being used as a substitute for something else that’s missing.
The same goes for spending too much time at work. Our bosses will happily profit from our workaholism, regardless of what is causing it.
Just a thought, then, thanks to Darius: next time you watch all eight games at the weekend, or read an online column like this to the very last word, have a think about what is missing in your life that you may be compensating for."
Christ - that's some philosophical stuff right there; you wouldn't catch Dave 'Nosey' Parker writing such self-indulgent puff.

"Former Cronulla hooker Paul Aiton has not been asked to choose between playing at Wembley and a career-ending suspension, according to his club Leeds."
Bit of a daft lad if he chooses career ending suspension. I'd go with playing at Wembley.

Same old aussies.... always cheating.
What a bloody joke. They get ONE year, backdated. This country is a joke, when it comes to doing something about their sportspeople who end up being cheats!!!
Let's see if they update their Sanctions page. Though I can't help but notice that the RL players who have been done for steroids all got two years. (3 months for cannabis). So why have this lot got one?

And to think that an Australian International and captain of NSW is a drug cheat and lied continually for the last X amount of time. Disgusting.

| The story seems to be that some players were unknowingly given supplements containing banned substances by an expert employed by their club in 2011. However, none of them have actually failed a drugs test. So the evidence is entirely circumstantial, there appears to be no hard evidence. Obviously some players are feeling pressured by the NRL and their clubs to take the soft bans to put an end to the issue, but I don't see how this would stand up in court if they refused?

and after 8 years of losing , the nsw blues win origin captained by a cheat?
some players might have been fooled into taking these supplements...some knew what they were doing
