Goulding to be replaced
www.ffr13.fr/index.php/equipes-n ... le&id=1682
From Google translate;
"The FFR XIII announced today that it would not renew PARIS Bobbie Goulding as coach XIII of France until the next World Cup 2013 to be held in England, Wales and France.
The President of the FFR XIII, Nicolas LARRAT said the decision by the "need to continue on a new footing, to a new level so that the XIII of France to reach the objectives it has set the next world rugby league. "
"Bobbie GOULDING was in place since 2009 and his contract expires, we have necessarily been forced to take stock of the past three years to consider the future of coaching the national team. There was certainly a lot of positives from the action that was conducted by Bobbie Goulding. I will say that the most XIII of France has found a true team spirit and meetings against the England team at the Four Nations in 2009 and recently, on October 21 in Avignon, have demonstrated this fact. These values had been lost after the World Cup 2008 have been found and we owe largely to Bobbie GOULDING who worked tirelessly to ensure this. The mission which had been given was that one and it was completed. Of course, a sporting point of view, the failure in the final of the European Cup in 2010 against Wales, the non-participation in the 2011 Four Nations which tended arms XIII of France, have necessarily been included in liabilities the coach even if we felt, in consideration of the difficult conditions under which the competition had been prepared, that this failure he was not entirely due. Now we have become convinced that XIII of France should have the means to continue to grow differently, with greater ambition from his game, its structure, its management, the discipline he has s to impose. Team France has a duty to go even higher to better prepare his appointment in 2013. With Bobbie Goulding, a milestone was reached and the French rugby league should be grateful. However, the developments must now XIII of France over the next two years we imposed the ultimate choice of another coach. Also, the future boss of the blues will necessarily have an excellent reputation in the international rugby league and be able to make XIII of France the real outsider for the next World Cup 2013. "
"We will take the time necessary to select the best interests of the future XIII of France coach," added the President of the FFR XIII. His name will be announced at a press conference to be held in Paris in early 2012."

| Makes sense (the decision, not the translation). The development of the game has to include improving coaching standards as well as playing standards, so hopefully a Frenchman can step up to head coach.

| Obviously after the bizarre appointment of a volatile p1sshead as a coach, the French will be after someone more stable with less character flaws. I suggest Garry Schofield.

Surely "volatile p1sshead" is a prerequisite to be employed in France?

He would be ideal.
With respect to Bobbie Goulding he was never ever the man for the job.

| If not a FT position Justin Morgan? He could have a team of French staff and then get involved at key times during the season.

Though in fairness he did a decent job. Not qualifying for the 4 nations just gone was a big blow but in the one France did contest they put up a decent fight against England and Australia bare in mind they only had the French lads getting a game at Catalan even playing SL standard rugby.

| the ideal set up or me would be someone like Steve Deakin or Jerôme Guisset with Laurent Frayssinous as assistant and maybe Trent in an 'advisory role' if required
Steve speaks the language and is well respected within the french game

I don't have his coaching figures to hand and I can't be bothered looking them up but surely you can't say he did a decent job? He couldnt get them into the 4 nations losing out to that mighty powerhouse of RL nation Wales and even lost to the England Knights.
When you look at the national side and see it's mainly Catalans Dragons players and look how well they did in Superleague I think it's fair to say Bobbie Goulding has done nothing in bringing the French national side on at all.

But unfortunately he can't pick Dureau, Blanch, Menzies, Sa, Paea etc who tend to be key Catalan players... I guess in the 4 nations they did compete they even had Mogg, Greenshields etc.
TBH I just don't think they are that great as a nation as it is and bar Wales once (yes key one) have romped over all the others in the few years anyway? So in away job done as expected.

| The one thing that annoys me about the French media releases is that they send them in French. Obviously they would but it makes sense but it makes my life harder!
