| For me, the game needs some simplification:
- Tries must be scored with controlled downward pressure. This implies that the player must not be in the act of losing the ball when scoring (as per our try against Wigan)
- Removal of the foot over the line is out rule
- Removal of ref call. If it goes to the video, authority is handed to the video ref. I previously thought it was better the ref took some responsibility, but I believe the experiment has failed.
- The kicker plays everybody on side. Removal of the 10 meter rule. If a player tackles another while offside, then that is a penalty. If a defender who is offside directly (direct contact) interferes with the gathering defender that is a penalty. If the kicker gathers the ball, all players are automatically back on side. Removal of the judgement call that an offside player is participating in the play when within 10 meters

| Controlled downward pressure? Do you want even more contentious decisions taking 10 minutes?
Foot over the line isn't out? Why on earth would you want that? Players running along the touch line and not being in touch, then having the VR have to decide if they were on the line or a pixel over it. Bonkers.
Ref call. Agreed.
Pretty sure the last one is already the rule.

Think he means when the player stands with a foot in touch and catches the ball, it's a stupid rule which has prevented many good kicks inside the in goal area.

Actually I think it would be simplified.
You've misunderstood me on point 2, sorry if I didn't explain well
Good
It isn't. If an offside player is within 10 meters of the gathering defender, they can be deemed to be interfering and therefore be called offside. It's down to interpretation of the ref, which is inconsistent.
On the last point, from the international rules:
8.4.1 A player who catches the ball near an offside opponent must not go out of his/her way to make interference by the offside player inevitable.
From domestic rules
An off side player shall not take any part in the game or attempt in any way to influence the course of the game. He shall not encroach within ten metres of an opponent who is waiting for the ball and shall immediately retire ten metres from any opponent who first secures possession of the ball.

| For me kicking out on the full shouldn't be a penalty but a tap from the place the ball was kicked from.

| 1. Try must be scored by hand, no forearm, elbow, shoulder torso etc.
2. Remove foot over the dead ball line rule
3. Allow quick 25m tap without setting onsides.
4. When players ball carrying arm hits the ground on the tackle no further wrestling or turning on the back, offence concede extra tackle.
5. Stop referee "coaching"
6 Allow partial contested scrums, half back feeds towards there own front row.
7 Reduce back chat arguing to referee, offence concede extra tackle. (Excluding Team Captain)
8. Set time limits on drop outs under the posts and penalties to touch. Out of time on drop outs attacking team PTB on the 25 metre line. Out of time penalties then PTB at penalty position.
9. More yellow cards and remove "on report", match is reviewd anyway.
10 Touch judges to have more control on the offside at the PTB.
11. Players (attacking) moving off the mark at the PTB forfeit a tackle from the count.
12. No 10 metre encroachment offside rule if ball is kicked from within the back 25 metre area.

| Simpler one for a try would be to make ball retention a criteria. The whole "downward pressure" thing doesn't count anywhere else on the field so why so in the act of scoring (i.e. you have to retain the ball during & after a tackle, prior to the PTB).

| 1. Police the rucks to the letter of the law (it will improve our game no end!)
2. If your foot (or other body part) is in touch anywhere on the pitch at any time when you touch the ball you are deemed to be out of play with the ball whether you've put your foot (or other body part) in touch first or not
3. The packs must have their torso from hips up horizontal to the floor in scrums, all players must physically bind properly in the scrum with no gaps, the ball should not be "out" of the scrum until the scrum half takes it out and the defensive line should be 10m back from the scrum (not five)
4. If the ref actually knows it's a try or it's not a try he should give that decision, if he's not sure he should not be guessing at what he thinks it might be ever! He should send it up to be looked at by the video ref to make the decision, not, send it up to the VR to try and prove the ref's blind guess wrong.

| Introduce the shot clock for drop outs and scrums
Automatic 10 minutes sin bin for dissent
Penalise players who throw themselves on the floor trying to milk a penalty
Penalise players who deliberately move off the mark
Way too much gamesmanship and trying to influence the ref

| when a player has finally stopped being wrestled, sorry tackled, he should restart play by placing the ball on the ground and rolling it backwards with his foot.
when a referee shrieks 'HEEEEELD', the wrestlers, sorry tacklers, should release the player on this call or a penalty should be awarded.
As in football, if a player simulates he should recieve a yellow card. Sick of seeing players trying to milk a penalty at EVERY play the ball now.

| I would bring back being able to play the ball to yourself after being tackled AND maybe even allow the marker to strike at the ball - it used to make us all concentrate on playing the ball correctly, if we were slipshod we knew that the marker could strike - obviously refs would need to rigorously enforce correct play the balls

| I'd like to see the sin bin changed to either a five or ten minute period depending on the severity of offence.
I think that would give the refs more chance to punish lesser offences like dissent and holding in the tackle or obstruction without a 10 minute penalty, which can have a big effect on the games outcome
