I was suprised to see this backward attitude amongst some fans still exist, so I thought I would do a poll to see how many people want Catalans out of super league. I have included their possible replacements in the poll (top 5 championship clubs).

| I haven't seen/spoke to any Rugby League fan who wants to see them replaced. They are the only successful expansion we've had, and shows the merits of patience on all sides. Widnes are also a good example of this.
The only reason I'd want them to leave would be to head up a professional French League along with Tolouse, but. This is little more than a pipe dream.
I was also thinking how although it's taken a long time other teams are starting to see and get access to French talent:
Fages, Simon, Larroyer, Boudebza, Springer and Julien all plying their trade at other SL clubs, Garcia recently gone to the NRL and a handful of players in the Championship. In a way it's kind of like how English players have taken time to get into the NRL, but now we are seeing more and more.

| 100% in but with less Aussies. Do they have the same quota as the rest of the clubs?

| These other clubs have had 120+ years to become and remain big clubs and have failed. Catalans have better facilities and backing than all the others mentioned and are better run with a bright future in an area where rugby league is ever growing. They've always been fun to watch at their best and if they can become successful it could be the catalyst this sport needs to become a larger game across a wider area as more and more French people start to play or become involved in the sport. A good French national team would spark greater international competition as the game grows there over the next decade. There's already 17 French players in the Catalans 27 man squad and look how far the quality has increased in their first decade; imagine another decade on... There are numerous French lads playing for different teams across Super League, Benjamin Julien being one for my Wire, and there have been a few gone over to the NRL too (Casty Batieri Garcia). How many French lads had done either of those things before Catalans got into Super League? Again, imagine how many there'll be in another decade's time...

As I said, 17 of their 27 man squad is French.

| In for me. A route exists for those other clubs; it's up to them to exploit it and if in so doing they displace Catalans for a season, so be it.

| You might as well have the same poll about any other team in Super League.
They are in, and should remain in until they either go bust or don't win enough games to retain their status, same as everyone else.

| Catalan definitely needs to stay. They give the league a good amount of credibility, I hope we can get Toulouse in next. It's sad to say but much as I like Fev, Batley, Dewsbury etc, them being in the league would make it look a bit more tinpot to an outsider.

| I don't know anyone with any interest in RL who thinks that Catalans inclusion in SL is anything other than positive.
You can have a view about their use of overseas players, but I don't think they're any worse in that regard than some English teams have been in the past.

I suppose part of that is whether you think English players count on their quota?
I think your right, they seem to have a lot of overseas, but no more than anyone else, and they at least attract a higher quality of overseas player.
