for me at the minute it is tomkins but this is just my opinion. slater is great player but i think tomkins has more about him.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

Slater is the better player right now, but Slater wasn't as good as Tomkins when he was 23.
If Tomkins keeps improving like he is doing now, he will be just as good if not better than Slater.

slater has been at the top alot longer but for the last few years mistakes are creeping into hes game just like sam has mistakes in him. its allways going to be tough compairing them as sam will only ever get recognition 3 or 4 times a year at international level by some superleague fans. but the last two years sam has just kept improving and hes attack is better than slater right now but people will just put that to more room in superleague defences.

You Wigan fans are totally and utterly deluded. Billy Slater has been doing it in the NRL, Origin and for Australia for years. He's an amazing player.
Sam Tomkins has been solid but no more at international level so far and is playing Super League? What do you think Billy Slater would do to Super League? He's better than Jamie Lyon, and he made the competition look silly. I reckon Slater in SL would score 50 tries in a decent team, he'd be unplayable.
This is exactly the reason Tomkins should be pushing for a move to the NRL rather than following the club's career ladder and leaving for their parent club Saracens or staying in SL any longer. He's too good for SL and should test himself in the NRL.

Slater is not the perfect player that people seem to think he is - he still has a tendency to go missing in big games (like today!)
Tomkins needs to be in NRL before you can really compare the 2.
