| The group representation is surely the best; all clubs could then identify with it.

Offiah or, preferably, Boston, surely? How the flip did Alex Murphy make the last 5?????????!'"
Murphy won the Cup at Wembley as captain of 3 different teams, and also is unbeaten at Wembley as a player & coach...I think thats a pretty good reason to make the last 5. Very surprised Shaun Edwards didnt make it to the last 5, can only think this is down to his Union association nowadays as (even though he is a pie) he would have got my vote for how many times he played/won at Wembley

Murphy won twice as player coach, 71 & 74 but lost twice as non-playing coach, 75 & 84, both times against Vin Karalius/Widnes.

| Why wouldn't Murphy be in the last five? Especially if the statue is of him winking from a stretcher.

| Surely Murphy lost in '89 too. Not that I agree with the OP's sentiments. Great player and coach.

Yes, I'd forgotten that he was at Saints then.

| The reason I wouldn't have Murphy is, despite his obvious achievements, he's now perceived as a bit of a dinosaur. The old flat-cap days. You know, the 'well in my day, we wouldn't have put up with this and that etc etc'.
Offiah isn't. And whilst there's nothing wrong with celebrating history, Offiah is part of the generation of players who helped drag RL out of it's past, and into a professional, credible sport that can compete in the 21st century, for all the problems off the field.
What do I know. I still reckon it should have been Clarv Sullivan.

Offiah could run fast , end of , he needed a team of RL players to make him look good and score trys
Alec Murphy is widely recognised in this country and Australia as probably the finest/cleverest player ever to play the game , between him and Offiah it is no contest
