| I see they are appealing the decision to award Hunslet's match winning drop goal, there is clear video evidence of it falling short of the crossbar. The outcome of this should be interesting.

| As poor as the call was, the result will stand, any other outcome would create an horrible precedent.

Indeed. I honestly can't believe they have the cheek. When there was uproar about Brough's drop goal vs Hull KR in 2016 I don't think they appealed did they?

| The 'appeal' will be dismissed. For one thing[i "The Referee judges on matters of fact and shall not subsequently alter those judgments. He may cancel any decision made if prior foul play of which he had no knowledge is reported to him by a Touch Judge."[/i And secondly granting an appeal sets a dangerous precedent.
Neither of the officials that can be seen in that video have a particularly great view as they are both looking into the sun and who knows where the third is, or where he is looking.

Not sure I've seen an official "appeal" before, but Bradford once called on Leeds to "hand over the two points" after the first Magic Weekend.

It will. I can't think they would formally give them the decision once appealed. It opens up so many possible problems. E.g. if the incorrect decision was in the 5th or 50th minute and not the 80th is it any less wrong? We don't need a raft of appeals based on incorrect video referee awards.
What would be lovely would be Hunslet to publicly announce they want to give the point to NWC. It could be pushed around the media and news outlets as an example of outstanding sporting honesty in a time where footballers are throwing themselves around and abusing referees all the time. The RFL can then do that without opening up any possible wormy cans.

The Hunslet Coach has allegedly said on the radio that he saw it go over.
Welcome to post-Trump, post-Brexit world, where the only facts are those you choose to believe.
This is tough, because it's a clear mistake, and unfairly deprived North Wales of a league point. Horrible for them, and I do feel for them.
But we can't change it. As others have pointed out, the precedent would be impossible. MIstakes are made in every game, and who on earth wants a competition where we don't actually know the results of a game until after a match review panel has had chance to look over every single refereeing decision in case there was an error, and then guess at what would have happened if the mistake hadn't been made?

| Massive bucket of worms if overturned.
Can we get them to overturn the non drop goal from Brough in 2016 that put us in the MPG leading to relegation and therefore sue the RFL for lack of Sky money in 2017?
This is just one reason why the RFL will back the decision of the officials in the NWC match.

| Terrible decision but it will have to stick. You have to draw a clear line somewhere and the referees decision has to be final. It won't be the first questionable goal decision, I've seen a few over the years at KCOM because of the short posts (which have only just been raised to a decent height) but where do you then stop? Unless its the last kick of the game you have already altered the future course of the game as the team in possession would be different on the restart depending on success or failure. Furthermore many goal or miss decisions are nowhere near as clear cut as this one (including the Brough one for the whining HKR fans out there). The only reasonable cause for altering the result would be if some indisputable evidence came up that the ref had some sort of match fixing financial inducement to order it and I really doubt that is likely.

simply saying "where do you stop", yes, it was a bad call, but as they say "it's in the papers"
(not sure why you put "Leigh" in quotes mind)

Could you not find more recent examples? I'm guessing the reaction was down to you naming a player who has been retired for 5 years.
