His commentary is appalling , I know the Sky team in general get negative reviews but Eddie is awful.

He often gets the calls wrong , players names wrong etc . In the Leeds / Cas game when the Leeds player played the ball. the wrong way , Eddie asked did he knock on ?

The number of mistakes he makes per game is unforgiving .

The whole Sky team needs a proper shake up

Fresh voices, fresh enthusiasm, more intelligence, more insight, more variety, more technical and tactical talk, less controversy, less labouring on certain incidents, less getting names wrong, less “the Warrington club” (just call us “Warrington”)... less replays of we’ve just seen or faces in the crowd and just show the game that’s going on that we’ve tuned in to see!

With Eddie, he looks for controversy so much he ruins his own commentary sometimes. There was a Cas try last year, it was an absolute beauty! But Eddie’s reaction was “ooooooaaaah I think he’s knocked on there!” He’s so obsessed with stoking controversy he ignored the class and skill of the set up of the try... the ref never even went upstairs to look for a knock-on, it wasn’t even close to being one.

He’s the main voice of the sport, he should be eulogising about good play and shouldn’t be having a bad word said about anyone like they’re all his own son. But he acts like a Union fan trying to make us look daft.

Also any time Warrington or Catalans score a try he seems crestfallen. I know as a Widnes fan from youth who loves St Helens since being a commentator and having his words quoted on the walls of Sts stadium and on t-shirts and in books sold in the Sts shop in the past... and through both he doesn’t like Wire but he should be more professional when talking about us. He has disappointment in his voice when we score, he’s full of snide digs and must say “is it their year?” every single time we’re on. I don’t mind it from fans of other clubs, it’s quite funny, I do mind it when the presenter/commentator uses it as a jibe, it’s unprofessional of the man. And I don’t know what his issue is with Catalans, he really doesn’t like them!

I find it incredibly irritating that every time a player kicks the ball from inside his 40m Eddie calls it as “a 40-20 attempt but he didn’t quite get the angle right”

Terry O’Connor is by far the worst of the sky commentary team.

Phil Clarke is next for me, while he is knowledgeable about the game to some extent, he openly supports one of the teams in his commentary, very unprofessional.

Eddie is far from great and I’d be happy to see him go along with the two above.

Jon Wells, Brian Carney and Barrie McDermott are worth keeping IMO.

I wouldn’t mind Jon Wilkin having a go at commentary when he hangs up his boots.

I don't mind Eddie, he's been a good commentator over the years, but his knowledge of the rules and the modern game in general is terrible.

Any neutral must think “pouching” the ball is some kind of special move or skill in RL.
At least we don’t have to put up with hearing about “scampering runs” now Burrow has retired though.

Well constructed post that PC . Hard to disagree with any of that .

The whole programme needs re inventing. A fresh start and a wholesale clear out, but not with Matchroom at the helm

The difference between nrl commentary and sl is insane. Get rid of the current line up and get in some of the radio commentary guys that have a bit of passion

It's chalk and cheese. NRL commentators make the game sound like it's being played at 150mph. We have to make do with Hemmings and O'Connor struggling to get the player's names right.
