| I have had a lot to say about the WC and won’t go over it again but Australia were superb yesterday .
I have seen every Australian team since 1978 and whilst this team do not necessarily have the “stars” of yesteryear or some of the flashier players in the the past Like Lockyer / Thurston or Slater as a well oiled machine they were fabulous.
Their line speed, fitness and strength from minute 1 to minute 80 was fabulous. I really though Samoa would have troubled them more in the centre of the park but they didn’t.
I thought Tedesco’s tries were superb the back up play and lines he took were exceptional
That was one of the best aussie performances I have seen , not a weak link in the whole team they were superb possibly the best aussie teams ever ?
I will however mention the beer at OT carlsberg and worthingtons cream flow ?WTF
Do football grounds not want to sell any beer or will football fans drink any Shiite?
I spent the day drinking team and coffee.

This is sold at the Principality Stadium too.
I do my drinking before and after the games there.

I agree that they are superb and lacking in any weak links. But, they are also comfortably short of some of the historic Aussie sides, just because of the lack of quality in their individuals. This generation of elite players isn't as good as previous ones.

| As long as I can remember, everytime an Aussie team comes over I always hear people say things like 'they're good, but they're not as good as other Aussie teams of the past', but the fact is, they are. The standard of their basic skills is almost flawless, their attacking structures are robotic, and they're able to play at intensity nobody can match for 80 minutes. To me, they get better everytime I see them.

They aren't though. They have less threat than previous teams. New Zealand matched them in the semi final and they were very lucky to win that. They don't have the legendary individual players Aussie teams have had. Tedesco is probably their best player, but he's about the only one on the Lockyer, Inglis, Thurston, Slater level.

There will always be dissatisfied people. People who have seen the Australian team in the distant past have already aged a lot. They're just nostalgic

| As much as I love Munster and Cleary at club/SOO level. Internationally they aren’t as good as Thurston/Cronk, Lockyer/Thurston, Fittler/Johns. Go way back further to the likes of Sterling, Daley, Stuart etc.
The spine now Tedesco, Munster, Cleary, Hunt/Grant is miles ahead of 2006’s Hunt, Lockyer, Hornby, Berrigan/Smith.
But massively behind the combinations of Slater, Lockyer, Thurston, Smith/Cronk.

I'm not saying they aren't? The conversation was comparing previous Aussie teams to this one?

1230.gif “You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”:1230.gif |

| I sat there at Old Trafford and saw two Australian victories, the Women's team were several levels above any other team at the tournament, and the men's team won fairly easily, their kicking game completely nullified the Samoan fullback, they scored tries when opportunities arose, and they never really looked troubled.
But I struggle to give credit, all I can see is that they have complete control of the game as a whole, all the money is theirs, the NRL decides when we play internationals, and they use Origin to weaken their opponents. They decide who referees, what the rules will be and still complain if anything doesn't go 100% their way. That the 40-20 wasn't given at Nil-Nil, that their was absolutely no chance of a red card for an Australian in the final, and that they rarely concede penalties, but get them when they are in trouble like in the semi, I just can't give them their credit because they are bad winners, bad losers (see 200icon_cool.gif and whilst there are several in this country who aren't helping, they are helping kill off the game I love.
