Idiotic comment, they weren't asking for it for free but a part of a development deal as per Saints, Salford, Hull etc etc. Why give Cas stick because there's failed whilst others didn't talk about forgetting where you came from.

| Tbh that's a nothing story. Another retailer has recently been added to the list but they clearly haven't reached the trigger point and it's not easy to work out just how close they actually are. One thing that struck me as slightly odd when the last update was given (reading that has reminded me) was the spokesman talking about 'legally binding contracts' which immediately made me wonder whether some retailers were having second thoughts?

Somebody should have let Beaverbrooks know. They have just become the 14th store to agree terms with Axiom.

With the state of the retail sector generally, timing has stuffed the deal, with many of the traditional retailers, holding back and scrapping some of their own expansion.

| RL fans are very weird.
Criticise clubs for not upgrading/moving grounds.
Gloat when said ground upgrade/move fails.

The cost of the project will also have significantly increased since first proposal - whether the funding agreement (with a Canadian Teachers' pension fund I think) allows for this increase or they have to find more is unclear. Add in that it sounds as though they've massively overspent to get to where they are.....
As for being dead, I'm not convinced it is yet by any means although there can't be many (any?) retailers left that they haven't already approached. What happens this coming Thursday may well have a big bearing!

I don think the election will make any difference , the retail sector is really suffering due to online business, and may never really recover, I rarely go n real shoe the staff just treat you like you are bothering them as they would rather just be messing on their phones, several is so poor nowadays.

What's idiotic about it, it's a fact Cas have twice been promised FREE new ground and both have fallen through, they have wasted nearly 20 years rather than redeveloping their current ground, Fev managed to do it Leeds Hull Hr have done it, they are now back to square one, when they could have at at least one if not 2 new stands at Weldon road.

But he is right, the smoke and mirrors of Cas and Wakey during the franchise era was so transparent to everyone else but the RFL neither side are any closer to redevelopment or new stadium after nearly 20 years of talk. This Is not a gloat it's just a sad state of affairs, I for one wish both were in new grounds by now and every other club who still play in 1930s relics

No they haven't. The first proposed ground (sorry that's really the 2nd as they proposed one on the site of the old Glasshoughton pit in the 70s ) on the other side of the road, or at least the stadium build, was to be funded by the club themselves. That didn't happen because despite being given the land and obtaining full planning permission they didn't have the money to fund it - selling WR for either housing or a new supermarket was never going to raise the amount required.

| I think the thing that annoys a lot of supporters is that the framing the future stuff which came out years ago regarding stadium standards was not adhered to by some clubs as they had new stadiums in the pipeline. Nearly 20 years on and these are still in the pipeline. The danger now is that with potentially some new clubs on the horizon some of the 'plodders' will be discarded if they don't get their acts together. I would love Cas to get a stadium their team and fans deserve but it never seems to other fans to be getting any closer.

Nonsense. Both stadium projects for Trinity were genuine proposals backed by the council. The first was at Thornes Park, but the council pulled the plug. The second was on the back of another development, as per the Saints ground, but the developer refused to build or fund it once they had got what they wanted. They were genuine serious projects, each let down by parties unconnected to Trinity.
