| my side from that would be
Tomkins - McGillvary - Makinson - Percival - Johnstone - Connor - Gale - Graham - Hodgson - T.Burgess - S. Burgess - Whitehead - O'Loughlin
Luke Thompson - G. Burgess - Bateman - Clark
I really liked Makinson at Centre in the game in Denver, so would give him a run there. It might end up being Connor there, but I would have him at 6 all day long

| I assume Widdop and Roby must be injured. Two notable omissions.
As a nation we are very weak at centre. I hope Percival can take his club form to Internationals.
I’d go
Tomkins
McGilvray
Connor
Percival
Johnstone
Williams/Lomax (currently undecided)
Gale
Graham
Hodgeson
T Burgess
S Burgess
Whitehead
O’Loughlin
G Burgess
Hill
Bateman
Clark

| Is it me or is the squad a bit back-heavy? I count 3 Full Backs and 4 Wingers, would rather us not have taken Ratchford and one of Makinson/Lyne, and used the two extra spots on Taylor and a young hooker. Would have liked to have seen Gildart and Richardson in there also. From that side I'd go:
1. Tomkins
2. McGillvary
3. Connor (would have preferred Gildart)
4. Percival
5. Johnstone
6. Williams
7. Gale
8. Graham
9. Hodgson
10. Thompson
11. S.Burgess
12. Whitehead
13. O'Loughlin
14. G.Burgess*
15. T.Burgess*
16. Clark (would have preferred Richardson)
17. Greenwood
*I don't watch much NRL. Swap Hill in if either of those two are off form

Taylor carried the Hull pack this year on his own, but has played with a shoulder problem all year, which I assume is the reason he isn't in the squad

I've always thought he's been unlucky to not get more England caps. He's not listed amongst the injured on the BBC website. Still think we could have done with another prop. Maybe Cooper or Amor?

| Is Liam Watts no longer deemed suitable?
From the games I`ve seen him play he has done pretty well and should be included in the squad at least.

| predictable squad almost identical to last years. both Burgess twins particularly Tom are average players, getting picked on the size competition they play in and reputation of older Brother. Both can not catch, drop the ball much too often, give too many penalties away.

| Weak in the centres. I hope Bateman isn't slotted in there again.

Any evidence to share?

| NRL 2018 average metres/runs George's - 102 from 9.7, Toms - 115 from 11.7, Sam 147 from 16.6. Tackle bust per game, George 1.6 , Tom - 2, Sam 1.7.
Therefore Tom is not particularly average.

| Pretty happy with the squad. I’ve never seen a great deal in Lyne to think he’ll smash it at international level but he seems solid enough and we lack quality in the position.
Happy to see Sam Tomkins back as he’s been very good this year. He’s a different type of player nowadays (a real creator and solid defensively) but I actually think he may be suited more to the international game now. He’s a good option to play at fullback or in the halves. Also pleased to see Joe Greenwood get a go. I’ve been surprised at just how good he’s been for us since his return from Oz. I always thought he was a good player at Saints but didn’t realise just what a handful he can be. He’s eating ground up for Wigan at the minute and his engine looks better then I thought it would be.

I think that's pretty much the case.
Ltne has had a good season, can score tries from nothing and makes meters. He can also play Wing and FB if needed though the latter I have not seen in years.
What he isn't is a world class centre I'm afraid, that said he's probably closer than Bateman who for me is a forward.
