| Kevin Sinfield to return to Leeds as "Director of rugby".
This is a similar title to what Peacock has at Hull KR. What do their duties entail, how does it differ from the head coach?

Well I know peacock does not coach and I am lead to believe he only turns up once a week what else he does and what he does for the club god knows

| Isn't Peacock's role more around issues like player welfare?
As for Sinfield, I think DoR is bascially code for "Head Coach, taking on some of the responsibilities Hetherington did". Hetherington is/was a lot more involved in player performance that other CEOs probably are at other clubs.
I suspect that there is probably also a bit of clever branding by Hetherington to protect Sinfield from the sort of issues that Cunningham has at St Helens. If it all goes pear-shaped, Sinfield is merely a "man upstairs"? Lowes isn't a popular appointment and it wouldn't be hard to move him on - and I suspect Jimmy knows that.

His contract runs out at the end of the year. He will continue that one day a week until it runs down apparently.

| He will continue till Autumn...
“I have enjoyed my time at the Rugby Football League and I would like to thank Brian Barwick and Ralph Rimmer for supporting my vision for the international team. I believe the national side are in a position to fulfil their potential under Wayne Bennett and I am happy to continue my work leading into the Autumn series against New Zealand to make sure there is a smooth transition to build on the successful work we have done over the last two years. | So, is this new "dream team" of Sinfield / Lowes just a quick fix before they appoint a high calibre coach, or is this the long term plan?

As bad as things are, and it feels worse than 2016 this season, Im pretty confident that we finish top 3 in middle 8's and more than likely top. Relegation isnt an issue.

To be reviewed at the end of the season.
I would think Sinfield is long term and Lowes depends on what happens this year.
Finish in top 8 and get to Wembley I would suggest Lowes gets a rolling contract. Finish top 3 of middle 8's and get to Wembley same result.
Finish in Million Pound game and get knocked out of CC and flirt with relegation then another "higher calibre" coach is brought in.
Either way, Sinnys here for the long haul I reckon. And very much protected.

| I suspect Sinfield is long-term. Taking on some of Hetherington's responsibilities on issues like recruitment and player development isn't something that you give to a temp. Let's not forget that Hetherington is 64 - this is probably the start of his exit plan.

| If it's the same as Wells at Cas and Ellis at Hull then it's the middle man between the coach and CEO, in charge of Rugby matters so things like signings, contract extensions etc.

The idea is that he is the decision maker at the club for anything that required Rugby knowledge.
So the key responsibility is hiring and firing of the coaching staff from first team to junior to scouts.
He is also the figure head for the club in terms of Rugby matters. So he would comment on the general form of the team and the clubs stance on refereeing etc.
He will have a big input in to who gets signed by the club and the make up of the squad and will likely be the first contact in any negotiations.
From the way he has conducted himself at the RFL regarding the media, he seems to be quite good at the job. Having him at Leeds will also be a winner with their fans. I suspect Gary Hetherington will have done a lot the Director of Rugby role until now. So maybe this is the first step in him having less involvement in the on field activities.
The issue would seem to be Lowes. He strikes me as a similar coach to Graham Steadman and Keiron Cunningham. A talented player who found the game natural and struggles to articulate what is needed to the players.
I, like others, are cunfused by this side of the appointments.
