| I was driving on the new road from Pinderfields the other day and noticed it's been named after big Neil. At last some recognition for Rugby League's record points scorer. Why he was omitted from the Wembley plinth when Offiah and Murphy were included is beyond me.

Wasn't it done by some voting method ala Brexit - stuff happens.

Of course it is.

Me too. Disgraceful omission - stupid / younger fans voted as I recall.

It was voted for by the Wakefield public, it is sad he very rarely gets a mention when the likes of Billy Boston are regularly talked about on the BBC.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| Neil Fox should have been voted for. In his first Cup Final at Wembley I believe he got the then record points for an individual in the Cup Final. Played another couple of times and scored well too.

I wouldn't knock Boston because he was a great player, but why Offiah? Why Murphy, who was notorious for, shall we say bending the rules?
I've been told before that there was a vote. All I can say is that has a regular dyed in the wool RL fan I never got a vote.

| Offiah for obvious reasons. But Fox's record both at Wembley and internationally (although Boston scored rather more GB tries) exceeds the others in the statue - including fellow centre Ashton.

It was voted on. The thing is with the masses is that they are often in the dark about all the details. Half who voted will never have heard of Neil Fox as they’ve probably only heard of Sam Tomkins and Sam Burgess. Some people just never delve into things, especially historically.

How come they'd heard of Gus Risman, who retired from playing in the early 50's, and Fox's contemporary Eric Ashton? Come to that given the game is played mainly in Lancashire, Cumberland and Yorkshire, all the players on the plinth played for Lancashire clubs? In fact three of them played for Wigan. Something rotten in the state of Denmark IMO.
No Dick Huddart, no Vinty Karalius, no John Whiteley. All great international players who played at Wembley.

When Dick Huddart, who was from there, was playing that's what it was called.

| How any real Rugby League fan could claim to have missed the vote for the Wembley statue is beyond me. It went on and on for months and was very widely publicised at national, local and club level.
Neil Fox was one of the candidates who wasn't selected.
