Anybody watching it, fascinating viewing for different reasons.

It's arguably the sports most iconic match in it's history, and probably it's worst match. Terrible stuff.

Were the scrums back then usually such a mess? Quite a few times the ball never even went in but play carried on. The BBC should do this more regularly putting old finals on the red button. Obviously this one is known more for the conditions and the drama of the missed kick at the end rather than quality of the contest but there have been many great finals that could be reshown.

It is a terrible game, but the conditions are yrully awful and have not been exaggerated over the years.

Anybody who wants to bring back proper scrums wants shooting.
And the play the balls only about half if them put it on the floor and play it with the foot the rest just get bounced between the legs.

Whenever I watch old matches with scrums it's a complete mess. I really don't understand how people can want them back when you see how bad they were.

You are definitely right about the PTB. Most were terrible in this game. What was the deal with players trying to kick long on like the 2nd tackle.

It was 4 tackles back then.

Different game then. What I found odd was how the Wakey scrum half put the ball into the scrum; he seemed to be hurling it in upwards at some speed.
