| I now live in Salford watch both Swinton,Salford and Leigh,i think R.L. is dying in this massive area. All clubs are cash strapped and in debt.Swinton and Salford do not have a benefactor like Leigh.Salford punch above their weight with the lowest squad numbers ever in Super League.Attendances are going down, sorry but dont think Manchester will have a major rugby league club in the near future.

That’s a shame because we need one in that area why not get one of them to move in with one of the football grounds if they will have them but it’s a big if

| With the number of funded pro clubs likely to go down to 20 before long, maybe Salford, Swinton and Manchester Rangers ARLFC should all look to merge and play out the ground next to the Man City Etihad. Manchester R(ed) L(ions)?

| Maybe the Championship is the right level for Salford. I can only see them going bust if they stay in Super League.

| Its a very sad state when the 3 biggest city's in the U.K are not interested in R.L. London are in a worst state than Manchester.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"
If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

[b:3w2ur1db]Superleague Titles[/b:3w2ur1db]
Warrington Wolfs - 0
Wakefield Trinity - 0
Leigh Centurions - 0

I was there for the first Ashes Test played at Wembley in 1963. Attendance just under 14,000 to see a brilliant Aus team including Gasnier (3 tries) and Langlands(1try and 6 goals) demolish Gt Britain.

| Why is there an obsession to have a pro RL club in Manchester ?
When the BBC moved up to SALFORD, some folk couldn't contain themselves over the increased publicity and new opportunities that it would bring, there hasn't been any change !
Although havind a successful side in Manchester "could" have some benefits, it's by no means a certainty.
If we're that bothered, just call Salford, Manchester Red Devils and then throw enough publicity and marketing at it to make it happen.
If only they had a wealthy backer, willing to splash the cash....................................

London is still there but perennial strugglers.
Birmingham never had and Rl or rugby of either code to note off, and neither has Glasgow.

trouble is Salford in not Manchester and they don't like it if you say it is, Swinton is in Salford.
so the great bright hope over there is Manchester rangers if they can rise up the ranks and get some support Manchester may get a super league club organically.

Quite correct Salford is a big city, it just doesn't unfortunately support its Rugby Team in numbers, but, those that do are passionate and wouldn't entertain a Manchester moniker. What also must be considered is that any RL interest in Manchester is by and large 'ex pats' from towns, some of which are in Greater Manchester, that have their own RL teams, a Wiganer living in Didsbury isn't going to suddenly follow Manchester Rangers home and away.
Wrencat's post was disappointingly way off the mark "if we're that bothered...." in that vain 'we' could increase interest in West Yorkshire Rugby League by renaming teams Wakefield Tigers and Wakefield Rovers to match their postcodes, as that would simplify the nation's understanding that these games are local derbies and market them accordingly.

look at the releases by the RFL, the figures show a very large portion of ticket sales are from outside the traditional areas.
It's very sad and reflective of the sport overall that yet another once big name is falling by the wayside and no interest from the locality.
