Hi guys, got told over the weekend that a super league team are looking to bring Dave Taylor back to super league, will this be a good move or is he past it ?

The problem isn't whether he is past it. It is whether he can keep his head down and behave himself.

He could've been one of the best of his generation, but is a liability away from the field. He's basically the Aussie Gareth Hock.

I do wonder if it's Leeds looking to sign him given their injury problems at prop.

Not sure how they look in terms of quota spots though.

Leeds do with Galloway's retirement.

We would be mental to bin Liam Watts for his off field behaviour and replace him with Taylor.

Thats our overseas contingent. Not sure which quota they all fit into, or if any are on dispensations etc. Anyway, if someone is looking at Taylor I'm pretty sure it wont be us.

It would also contradict Radford's ethos of not having any trouble makers/Players that don't toe his line in the camp too

Taylor with his head on straight and realising that this is his last ever chance in the game could be worth a punt "IF" the contract was watertight and a one strike indiscretion and he's on his way

I'd be surprised if Gary Hetherington would be interested in him tbh but I could see a club like the Giants being interested

Not entirely sure it is against his ethos. He signed Kelly and Miloudi who have both had problems. He seems to be willing to give a chance and judge people by how they act under him. I still think it would be a mistake though, although if he ever gets his act together there is an outstanding player in there.

Agree, when he first came onto the scene he was one my favourite players tbh, like you say he looked like he could have been right up there with some of the Aussie greats. Even when he first came over here, we played him and he was an absolute handful but obviously other influences got in his way.

He's a huge gamble but if it's one where he's finally realised that I'm not getting any younger and have to stop the stupid stuff to keep in the game, he could do the business.

Rovers have made no secret about having money available and a quota spot.

He may be a gamble worth taking for Rovers. Exactly the sort of player that squad is crying out for. Plus Sheens has as good a chance as anyone of being able to keep him in check.
