I've defended Eddie in the past but he's been unbearable so far this year, constantly arguing with Cummins about straightforward referee decisions in the first two matches and now some embarrassing comments tonight. Cummins being there isn't a bad idea in principle. If you watch the NFL, they also have a former referees coordinator to help clarify the rules. But the difference is that they only talk to him maybe once or twice a match, whereas Eddie spends an entire Super League match going on and on at Cummins about something that was perfectly obvious after one replay. It's painful to listen to. I'd be happy with a commentary team of Rod Studd, Stevo and Carney/Wells, with John Kear/Paul Cullen/Brian Noble etc, someone with actual knowledge as the fourth man.
