| No JJB or Wilkins is a step forward imo.
Rest of them seem a no brainer really. As usual we dont have many options in the centres really.
Hope Widdop gets a starting shirt, can be devastatingly good.

| Generally, it is a strong squad.
Of course, that won't stop the "why isn't <player from my club> in the squad?" posts but other than possibly Brett Ferres and Crabtree in place of Chris Hill, I don't think there is anyone who isn't in the squad who is better than anyone of a similar position who is.

| I think he's got it about right. Glad he didn't pick either JJB or Wilkin, which I feared he might.

| I’m pretty happy with that squad
Personally I would have gone for Lunt over McIllorum and Crabtree is very unlucky to miss out (although I am pleased to see Tom Burgess make it as he has improved considerably for me this year)
We will see Sinfield in the halves as captain and play maker (he may move to 9 during the games, depends if McNamara puts a reserve hooker on the bench) so the big question is who will partner him. Chase is favourite I guess as he has persevered with him for a number of games but he hasn’t clicked with the England team yet – maybe he will during a full tournament. I would go with Sinfield and Widdop
Here is my 17 from the squad
Tomkins
Hall
Watkins
Cudjoe
Charnley
Sinfield
Widdop
Graham
Roby
Hill
S Burgess
Westwood
O'Loughlin
G Burgess
T Burgess
Hock
Burrow

| Its actually the first time in a while I've looked at an England squad and thought - fair enough.
Always going to being the odd player that people disagree with (Gareth Hock for me) but on the whole the squad looks good.

By all accounts JJB was playing on one leg in the Wigan game so I think that decision was made for him.

| I'd have had one or two others in but generally that's a good squad he's named and it's taken some guts to leave out guys like Morley, Wilkin and Crabtree.
Matty Smith and Stefan Ratchford are very unlucky IMO but McNamara wants continuity in the squad so fair enough.

| Hock should be nowhere near the squad on this season's form (Ferres, Kirmond).
Choosing 3 specialist wingers when you also have Hardaker as cover is a waste of a pick and a really dumb use of a 23-man squad. Ratchford for Briscoe.

| Mossop, Farrell, and Ablett makes for a very lightweight forwards squad IMO, bit worried if one of the first choice get injured. Out of the 12 England eligible SL dream team players, McNamara has picked 4, which is interesting. Crabtree and Lunt especially (biased I know) must and should feel very aggrieved.

| His squad is fair enough given the quality of players at his disposal.
McNamara's team selection is the big worry.
Also that 3/4 line is a defensive nightmare. Cudjoe and Watkins are good with the ball in hand but their defensive reads are just dreadful.
Chase and Sinfield as starting halves with Widdop either on the bench or omitted is more than likely.
