It would appear that way, maybe he thought he would be 'ok' playing for both.
Either way if he doesn't make it it gives the opportunity, i presume, for an English based, Englishman to get a spot now. |

Should be anyway to be fair.
I can't imagine any professional sportsman would want to miss out on a home World Cup. I know they come around more often in league (they're either here or Aus) but you rarely get two chances. |
