Or and he's a completely left-field idea. Maybe the RFL WANTED it shown on terrestrial telly to ensure it reaches the biggest audience it can?

You really want Premier Sports to have the rights to SL? Really? You must be mad, I bet you'd be the first to complain that the sport isn't getting enough coverage because its in a two bit channel along with obscure motor racing and other minority sports. Don't get me wrong I like premier sports and its great they have some WC games and the NRL but Sky invest a hell of a lot of money into SL and it quite rightly one of the most watched sports on there. I really disparity with some RL supporters attitudes to the game

Sky have been downsizing their coverage of RL for a few years now.

GONE is coverage of...

1. NRL weekly round games "live".
2. NRL Grand Final.
3. NRL weekly round-up.
4. State of Origin.
5. ANZAC Test.
6. Internationals in the UK... no interest in last years Tri Nations.
7. World Cup 2013 - no interest in it.
8. Championship games.
9. Northern Rail Cup Final.
10. Rights to broadcasting Challenge Cup "live" but choosing not to.

The only thing Sky have left to show is their Super League product which is losing credibility as playing standards drop alarmingly and the best players move elsewhere.

I do wonder if Sky will be interested in renewing when the next TV contract is up for negotiation? If they are interested, I envisage a significant reduction in the value of the next contract. Don't see any other broadcaster coming close to matching even half of what Sky have offered in the past.

You really haven't thought this through.

Super league on premier sports would be a disaster.

Also if you believe what 40-20 say latest edition. IMG rejected sky's offer and then they went back to sky to renegotiate. Sky told IMG that the budget had already been allocated to other projects.

Prem sports for me all the way as above poster said the amount of rl coverage on sky compared to what there used to be is alarming. And save me about £300 per year because I for one won't be subscribing after the grand final.

Before last season I never remember the Challenge Cup being on Sky either, so that's being brought in in the last 2 years rather than being lost.

Sky have wendyball and Union internationals in October/November. They get over 500k for the Union games...they got only 371k for the last 4 nations final in 2011...featuring England.

Sky have invested massively in Super league. They have changed the way the game is viewed by others and the quality of the coverage overall.
I would not want to see Sky leave Rugby League.

And even though William Eve likes to be negative and miss the obvious just to start debate, whether the sport has credibility is not their issue. They want viewers and advertising revenue. End of.

Just go watch some BBC coverage to know how good the Sky coverage is.
Premier Sports just show the ausie versions. They are not set up to take on Super league yet. It would be interesting to see how the manage on the world cup.

Plus with Sky everything is broadcast in HD with some games in 3D, there is full studio build up and use of stats etc. With all due respect to Premier Sports their coverage is pretty amateur and only available in standard definition. Then there is the small matter of the £95m that Sky pay to broadcast the game.

That's just a list of Sky's SL products which have been introduced, none of which relates to additional coverage of actual "live" games of RL.

But thanks for the further confirmatory evidence which justifies what I said earlier... [iSky have been downsizing their coverage of " RL" for a few years now[/i.
