This is the most vicious form of scapegoating I have seen in a long time.
The club has no players worthy of a Super League jersey. How can the coach be blamed for that?
How is interim coach Alan Hunte going to change anything? Is there a super coach waiting in the wings to take over?
It is too late to find quality players for 2013. This year is a write-off for the club. Salford needs to buy a number of quality players, including the mercenary Gareth Hock and, dare I say it, some from the NRL, for 2014. Firing Veivers will change little. Koukash needs to stop eating his pie-in-the-sky goulash and start dealing with reality.

Exactly my thoughts. Interim coach til the end of the season then sheens will come in, the entire salford squad will be released and sheens will be allowed to recruit who he wants at any cost. Plus there are literally hundreds of quality players who have conacts expiring at the end of this season, both here and in the NRL.....and money talks....whatever language you speak.....boot payment anyone....

If thats the case why not just keep Veivers until the end of the season?

I think it may be interim coaches until the end of 5 games - not the end of the season.I don't think you will find a post from any Salford fan expecting the side to do anything this season, anyway.
So,any future coach has 5 games.Interesting.Oh,and they have to do it with loan players - that is only fair.

When your a sl club with a fan base of 2k ,you need to do something to try and convince people you mean business.

So before the game at a club that have just surrendered a 16 points lead - despite having an experienced Super League coach, who is now a national coach - you sack the head coach for an interim coach to take charge of players who since 2012 won't know if they are punched, bored or countersunk.
It's certainly mean business.

Damn, I was out by 24 hours.
Stop whining - best thing to happen to this game in ages, someone ready to rattle cages. Probably harsh on poor Phil Vievers TBH, but he'll be fine. Dr. K ain't going to get this job done by pussyfooting around.
Exactly the kind of dynamism we need. Good stuff.

| Salford need a club builder, someone with a proven track record at taking clubs on and improving them in every area. I've seen McClennan's name mentioned - god help them if that's the case. Tim Sheens would probably be OK if they can wait. Noble would be a safe pair of hands with a first team squad of journeymen but isn't the man to do what I think needs to be done.
To me, if he is interested, Brian Smith is the best candidate available. He's presently working part time with some inconsequential Aussie Rah Rah outfit so the only question is if he wants to come back to the UK.

Money talks and the salary cap speaks louder, I don't think you can develop a successful club with recruits alone, cheaper players who come through the academy mixed with the odd quality recruit seems to be a winning formula in this league.
