Watched it a couple of times on Sl Fulltime and couldn't actually work out what it was that Clarke was supposed to have done!

I've been frustrated with referees before but nothing like this. He missed so much and let stains get away with loads

I thought originally Clarke was binned for dissent but it turns out it was for fighting. 4-4 with twenty minutes to go. We survived the next 9 minutes with only 11 men and their last try was a dire mistake by us. An extra man could have made the world of difference to a widnes side that played their hearts out.

Hicks was similar last year when we played Catalans, useless. I'm sure every team sees very poor refereeing on regular occasions, for some of the referees I really don't think they're up to the standard. Some I don't mind, ganson, Bentham, one or two more

Have to agree it looked to me like clarke tried splitting it up and then every player is in so you cant see anything.

Dont see how they can pick one player from that.

Id have thought that in a case of a brawl like that the first person to run in from the other team should be yellowed automatically as they have partly started said brawl.

Im not usually harsh on refs but gotta say Child seems to be worst of the worst.

I presumed at the time it was because when the "handbags" finished and 24 players were stood waiting for Wellens to get up, Clarke was still prowling round pointing and shouting at pretty much every Saints player he could get near. It could quite easily have ended up boiling over again because of his actions when it had calmed down.

He was obviously agitated and "up for it" and 10mins in the bin was probably the right decision to calm him down. You should be more thankful that Hock wasnt on the pitch at the time, or he would probably have been joining Cross.

The only logic I can see for it is that it does go on for a while (in that pile of players on the floor) and Clarke still looks like he's trying to give someone a dig when everyone else has calmed down (around 2.15 on that video).

The ref an linesmen are in pretty close attendance and having a good look at what's going on, so they may well have seen a lot more than that video shows us.

Both teams' players all rush in to the melee and loads of stuff happens. There is no question of a VR analysis so the ref and his assistants have to talk, and have to call it as they see it. Which they did. So stop whingeing. If Clarke hadn't risked getting involved he would have stayed on the field. After he got involved, one or more officials has said they saw something that merited a sin binning and that's just the way it goes. Maybe they did. To call it "madness" is so OTT as to be funny.

If you had actually witnessed the latest instalment in Mr Child's clear and obvious vendetta against widnes you would know that 'madness' is very much an understatement for the outright bias shown by that twonk on sunday. A vendetta he has pursued with a complete lack of professionalism since his championship debut officiating a game between us and Oldham. A game in which he started with several massive clangers, got some stick from the crowd, obviously took it personally and has continued to grind that particular axe against us ever since. without any shame or any attempt to hide it. You know its bad when you have die hard saints fans saying they couldnt believe how biased he was.
