Fat blokes in the mud, flat caps, bogs that drain pi55 directly onto your boots - Now it's all 'Big Ask', 'Arm Wrestle', 'Collision' 'Contact' 'Facials' 'Upper Body Strength' 'Big Units' 'Scooting from Dummy Half' 'Energy Levels' 'Laying the Platform' ‘Middles’ and 'T-R-Y'. Let’s not forget resilience.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32137.jpg

I'm no marketing guru but we must be close to 100% agreement across the RL world that we need to change to something less convoluted

5 team playoff system
No second chances
Season ticket holders with some discounted playoff ticket option.

I know it's been done to death! Apologies but it's just so chuffin obvious

I agree with you on this one. Wigan should have gone straight through with the next four clubs playing off (2nd -v- 5th and 3rd -v- 4th, and the winners then playing each other) for the other final place.

It has been done to death, but a team that finishes in the 'bottom' half of the table should not be allowed to compete for the title.

kcab sfrawdder Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg

The ideal play off for SL would be the top 6 system as used in the Championship, it gives advantage to finishing top without having any club mising more than 1 week

Exactly, the game had no intensity as Wigan didn't really achieve anything from winning it, Catalans gave up when 16 points down as they get a other chance. If this had been knock out, then it would have been extremely tight.

It's stupid Wigan finish top, win a play off game yet may not get the grand final. We could end up having to watch Wigan v.s Cats & War v.s Saints again in two week time to qualify for the grand final. We could also get a grand final of 7th v.s 8th. I team should not be allowed in the play-offs having lost more games than they won in a season. The play-offs should be for the elite teams with everything at stake. The opening rounds of the play-offs have all been poor since the top8 was introduced.

If you ask me, Catalans just weren't good enough anyway. They are very reliant on their home form. Not good enough second half of the season.

I know it will never happen but the play offs should be top 3 only

1st = straight to Old Trafford
2nd vs 3rd (2nd place team gets home advantage)

Looked pretty bloody good to me tonight.

One duff game due to one side getting stage fright
Two absolute belters tonight

I think this format is pretty good.

The attendances aren't just down to ticket price, imo. This should be knockout rugby! Two of this weekends games meant next to nothing in terms of progression in the competition. The structure needs to be a simple and straightforward few rounds of knockout rugby instead of this contrived and convoluted series of qualifying playoffs, preliminary semi finals, qualifying semi finals, club call, etc. I bet half the fans who do turn up can't fathom what their team is playing for - it should be a simple case of trying to win so you can play one of the other winners in the next round, but no, this is SL where you might well be playing one of the losers, and you may well end up playing the same fixture again.

Why is it that every "marketing plan" that gets suggested on here involves cheap or free tickets?

Season tickets are sold on the basis of 13 home games - nothing more. As a season ticket holder, you have paid for 13 games and received 13 games. Why is there this sense of entitlement that you should get play-off games on top of what you have paid for? Do these people buy a toaster from Currys and expect a kettle thrown in on top?

The product needs to be something that people want to pay full price for (how often do you see Apple or BMW discounting their products?). That means turning the play-offs into a truly elite competition - not just some meaningless "everybody can join in" event because we're worried that sub-par clubs don't have anything to play for.
