I've been watching the www.youtube.com/user/ukrugbyleague coverage of the 4N and it there's been some good stuff on there, particulary Tomkins/Westwoods interview. Compared to other sports, SL is very well covered on YT, officially, while some sports do everything in their power to remove videos RL openly put highlights on there. I think this is a very good thing however some of the views the videos get is poor, hopefully as time goes on and more and more people find out about these channels this will improve.

It would be better if they didn't remove match footage, particularly the NRL. It's just absolutely stupid considering what a great viral marketing tool Youtube could be.

I agree with headhunter. Plenty of NRL videos have gone "viral" and even forced their way onto the front pages of American news websites............................. until the NRL remove the videos a few hours later and ruin christmas for everybody

I didn't realise the NRL videos had done so well - when I spoke of RL being leninant I made the RFL as I've not seen many SL videos removed.

Well all the highlights that appear on the Super League website get uploaded onto YouTube now, usually just before they appear on the actual website.

The NRL also has their own version of this on their official youtube channel, but they block it for overseas viewers so that's why we can't see it.

Once you find a decent small channel though, they tend to upload most of the highlights from the NRL once they appear on the official one.

The Super League Highlights Youtube Channel has a pathetic 563 subscribers, despite having tries from all Super League and 4Nations games.

The UKRugbyLeague channel has a marginally better 899 subscribers, with a good combination of funny and serious videos about the England team and this series.

For those people who aren't subscribed, can I ask why? Personally, these videos have kept my excitement levels high all week and they've really done a good job of making me warm towards the players in the England team (Westwood was an easy sell, but Tomkins comes across great as well).

Personally I'd rather watch this videos rather than scour national papers for two square inches of build-up.

People aren't subscribed because both channels are practically invisible. People aren't going to subscribe to something they don't know exists. The onus is on those who run the channel and the SL to make fans and non fans aware of their Youtube page. It's paramount to asking why many of the great websites on the internet aren't more popular - Poor marketing.

If these channels want subscribers they should show a bit of creativity and create/release videos that will grow attention. They need to do better than they are doing. Why don't they release compilations, player highlights? Why don't they actually upload interesting incidents, individual tries, tackles, great plays, even fights from games? Game highlights, surprisingly or not, just aren't that popular. And the highlights being offered by the official channels just aren't that good. There's never replays, even from TV broadcasts when replays are clearly available, and none of the highlights make sense -- Because everything but tries are ignored. For example, a team could go down to 12 men, an important moment in a game if there is one, yet there is never even mention of it on highlights. A star player could be injured and replaced, no mention of it. A 26 man brawl could take place, there would be no mention if it.

I enjoy the player interviews -- especially when they're taking the out of 'Roger' Chase -- but both those channels are ran by people who have NFI how to run a successful Youtube channel. It's actually shocking, bordering on the disgusting, how poorly run those channels are. Give me access to the same content they have and I would have you tens of thousands of subscribers and millions of video views within a year, and I'd do it easily... EASILY.

It sounds revolutionary but asking for subscribers usually results in getting subscribers, but I don't see either channel adding annotations to their videos and encouraging people to subscribe to the channel. This is basic stuff.

You tube is also full of vile people who talk rubbish and 'verbally' abuse one another.

Could say the same thing about the internet...

Youtube, like any large community, is what you make of it. It's probably more of an indictment of your own character that you only see the negative in one of the greatest resources of the 21st century.

Not at all, as a tool i think it's fantastic, though many of the comments below the videos turn in to a tirade of disgusting language and insults, which I feel let's it down, I'm certain this is not just my opinion.

I dont appreciate the 'smart' character assessment when you know nothing about me.
