A group of Castleford supports (Tigers Together) have set up an online petition to the Wakefield District Council to get them to back a redevelopment of the current Cas ground which will regenerate the Wheldon Road and Castleford area. The petition has one week left to run, It would be great if you could please click the link below and add your support.

This petition is for a Supermarket to be built on the site of the current ground, the Supermarket is needed for the funding of the new stadium after Ben Bailey homes tried pulling a fast one and reducing money.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg

So Cas are in the same boat as Wakey regarding a new stadium - no cash - but a few drawings?

No, Cas have planning permission Wakefield have a public enquiry happening in like 8-9 months time. This petition will help Cas have the funding before Wakefield even know if they can build at Newmarket.

Cas have planning permission for the new ground and full designs drawn up as soon as opus send the money we can begin to build the stadium (well more or less it will take a few weeks for us to appoint contractors and order the materials etc) opus will give us the money for wr as soon as its gets pp for the new supermarket.

[quote="Bonzo":23qz4bj5]Corrected. Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. [i:23qz4bj5]Who needs flankers[/i:23qz4bj5]' grammar was actually correct. Just to add to whats been said already, there is no issue with planning for the new ground this has been passed and is ready to go, if we had the money we would be able to start tomorrow. Castleford have made no secret to the fact that we need to sell Wheldon Road before we can finance the stadium. The petition is to encourage the council to act quickly on passing plans for redevelopment on the current ground and not let it drag on for months/years. Once we get permission for a supermarket then Opus Land will release funds for us to begin building the new ground.

you think?

it will take a while to tender the contract etc. I would imagine.

I doubt Wakey or Cas will be in new grounds soon, unfortunately.

No, Wakey have cash, whereas Cas don't (at the moment). Wakefield's only problem is that we have to wait another 6 months at the least to see if we can build. Neither club is in a better position than the other IMO.

A poor state of affairs on both parts.

Wakefield have no cash unless the pi goes there way and have no back up.

Cas have the money if pp goes through on wheldon road, if not we will be able to sell wr to someone else.

Cas will own there own ground when it gets built which give us a much better income stream.

I hope that Castleford manage to sell the old ground for enough money to fund the proposed new one, but why would WDC take any notice of signatures on a petition from people who live nowhere near Wheldon Road. Surely it is local support you really need?
