| anyone hear what he just said on the bbc?
basically he said in league its 100% all the time,no hiding place and he loves it...then said to be honest in union,as jonathon (davies) knows,as a winger or , there is times when you can switch off, obviously referring to davies' famous comment that in league he was never cold...lol
shame he did'nt get here 10years ago.....and he should give andy powell a bell...

| It was a good interview – plus we had Noble at the beginning of the programme saying Clinton Schifcofske taking a couple of years ‘rest’ in rugby union... and on the BBC as well

| Fantastic person, ignoring his sporting achievements.
He's done superbly since coming into SL when few on here would have given him a chance. If he'd been in league since he was 16 he would have been an absolute legend of the sport.

If film does rugby league anything like TV does these days, they will cut out everything once it gets to the big executives in London. They will have 1 1/2 hours of Union portrayed gloriously, then have 5 minutes of Thomas being subjected to homophobic chanting from Cas fans at a rainy and run down ground, with the cast of Deliverance brought back for the purpose.

| or perhaps it'll suggest that Thomas had to leave Union because they thought his sexuality might dent their reputation and that though the road into league was a bit bumpy, he was accepted much more here?

If that happens i will be campaigning for the anti thomas brigade. Union might be allot of things, but it's far from homophobic.

Considering the film is about a guy who spent 95% of his career playing rugby union, id guess rugby league will get what it deserves in the film, 10 minutes tops
But that wont stop the outcry on here about how everyone in the world is against rugby league

agreed. All the noise around it had centred on RL with him consulting Nobby and that. It doesn't sound like a Gareth Thomas biopic as such. It'll be about him coming to terms, coming out, dealing with the fall out and moving into a new sport with this new identity. I would imagine there will be a brief history of his career in Union at the beginning to establish who he is, but the majority of the story will revolve around when he came out and left Union.
Moving into a new sport with a new culture, a new region with a new team will be used as a way to highlight his struggles to battle against the odds to establish his new identity and be recognised and respected as an individual and team player.
There'll be a prologue looking at the Welsh Grand Slam et al. Then you've got the highs of the media storm of coming and switching codes. The bang to earth with a bump moment in THAT tackle when he first touched the ball. The lows of taking stick from the terraces at Cas. The team talk at half time alluded to in the interview earlier to show him gaining a grasp of who he is and turning a corner. And, then Cru reaching the play offs and giving Hudds a game; the bittersweat success against the odds.
