| This is a genuine question - what if anything did the RFL do to support the victims of floods in Hull and Doncaster the other year?

They allowed them to ignore the overseas player rules so that they could import a load of Australian's with building trade experience.

You mean the floods in Hull and Doncaster where nobody died (to my knowledge) compared to the Brisbane floods where lots of people have died and more may follow?
I'm not sure I agree with the comparison.
Edit: Actually, google suggests one person did die in the Hull floods, so my apologies there - point stands though; I think there's a very definite difference in terms of humanitarian scale and rebuilding requirements.

I think those pictures show the difference in the scale of the flooding between Hull and Brisbane. In Hull the water looks to be up to your ankles, while in Brisbane the downstairs of houses are completely underwater.

Absolutely, but you can't help but think the RFL are doing this for more then just 'pledging support'....?

Do you mean for positive publicity? Just as every major organisation or celeb does when making public their donations to charity.

| So have the floods in Australia knocked buildings down? They are going on about a biblical flood and a rebuild on par with the second world war in Western Europe. How? Are there districts they've abandoned or has the water been so powerful it's actually knocked buildings down?

While Brisbane due to its size and being a major economic centre is getting a lot of media attention, flooding has been going on in Queensland (also northern NSW and now hitting Victoria) for three weeks now. To bring a city the size of Brisbane to its knees isn't easy.
In rural areas there have been some pretty horrific stories of the waters coming through and destroying houses and most of the town of Grantham. If you want to hear some heavy stories, read about this town.
I lived in SE Qld for half my life, watching the coverage online is truly heartbreaking. Trying to comprehend the vast areas effected I assume would be hard unless you've been to Australia.
One great thing to come out of this is watching the communities at work, I've had plenty of friends who are effected and hearing the stories coming out of the area of the volunteers and work forces coming into strangers homes to help clean up and bring aid is truly amazing.
I'd like the thank the RFL for their support, this is part of the heart of Australias Rugby League territory that has taken a beating.
