| In my latest blog I've had a go at selecting a Team of the Decade based on performances in Super League from 2000 to 2010.
The only criteria was that the player needed to have made a significant contribution to SL during the past decade. I hope I've not missed any obvious contenders, for context I started watching RL regularly in 2002/3.
My team is...
1 Wellens
2 Albert
3 Lyon
4 Senior
5 Vainikolo
6 McGuire
7 Long
8 Morley
9 Cunningham
10 Fielden
11 Farrell
12 Peacock
13 Sculthorpe
Would welcome others ideas and selections. My full blog with reasoning and those just missing out is rlhttps://jimcgreen.wordpress.com/2010/12/31/the-super-league-team-of-the-decade/rl

6 Robbie Paul
7 Long
8 Paul Anderson
9 Cunningham
10 Fielden
11 Farrell

| There were some awesome players who started their career pre super league, but did actually play in super league at the back end of their careers like Sean Edwards, Frano Botica, Richie Blackmore and Lee Crooks. Fielden shouldn't be in that team. I don't see a reason why Peacock should be in 2nd row either when there have been players like Cassidy, Joynt and even Solomona.
I would love to see Tawera Nikau in that squad even if it is on the bench because Sculthorpe was unbelievably good.

Remember it's post-2000.

Technically it should be 2000-2009 as 2010 is the start of a new decade.

If you're going to get pedantic, the year 2000 was the last year of the twentieth century, so the first decade of the 21st century is 2001-2010. There will be some who disagree.

Ah balls. I'm so old I forgot about the 00's. It was a crap decade anyway. Nikau played for wire in 2000 - 2001 season. That's good enough for me.

Pedantic is good and as to disagreeing, yeah, me.
99 was the last year of the nineties, therefore, that makes 00 the first year of the noughties and as such to me that is the start of a decade.
