| They should share stadium untill they can get their own. Tbh though I would rather they go out and Widnes come in. I can't see Wakey having that much potential and there is too many teams in Yorkshire. Wakey out for Widnes gives the league a better balance.

| This is what gets my goat up...
Quote: Rugby league has been synonymous with the City of Wakefield for 137 years and this delay could put that in jeopardy.

SL is not RL and acting that way can put you in serious trouble if your not careful (like Widnes in 2007). I hope it all gets sorted in the end but tbh always thought they were on an extremely tight timescale for SL bids. Why does it get your goat up?
That is what they are faced with, they are already in serious trouble.
The delay leaves them with no option but to suggest a plan B of possibly Oakwell, but that would only be financially viable if they were in super league.
Unlike Widnes,Leigh and Halifax(as you suggested on another board),Wakefield do not have a ground after this season.

| But surely their is an alternative somewhere? Even at another champ club? Maybe council / backer would step into help rent if NM got the go ahead in 12 months?

Who with??? Neither us or Cas have or at the moment look like getting a stadium in time. Ours was been privately funded. This funding would not be transferred if it wasnt been built at the Newmarket site.

Cas offered Wakey an opportunity to collaborate with the Glasshoughton project and share the stadum, and they turned us down. That's their loss.

Once theyre out,i think they will stay out.
Even if NM got the go ahead in 12 month - someone would have to subsidise them for at least 3 years and thats if they were successful in winning a license in 2015.
I doubt they would even meet the minimum criteria to actually re apply for a license.
Yes,maybe they could go share with say Dewsbury or Batley -- but that just echoes what James Elston said --- theyre would be no rugby in the city of Wakefield.

How the hell has your board left you in this position? Surely the sale of BV should only have taken place AFTER the go ahead had been given for the new stadium. Especialy if the funding for the stadium was from the developers?

Cas wanted Wakey to share for one reason and one reason only -- to bridge the funding gap you have.
Anyone with an ounce of sense knows what the final outcome of a long term sharing of a ground between Wakefield and Cas would be.

Cas have just got a 2million loan from WDMC to help along with that.

| I think J20 is trying to point out that Super League isn't the be-all and end-all of British RL. Sadly I largely disagree. Below SL, clubs have to rethink in the way they operate. Unless there is a major cash injection and restructuring of SL (the much-talked about regional conferences), then there is little room for ambition for clubs at the top-end of the Championship. If Wakey were to go, they'd have to start from scratch in order to become self-sustainable in the lower regions of RL.
Franchising sure does leave a bitter taste in the mouth, though I suppose for the worse of a handful will ultimately mean for the good of the majority.

Its better than that -- the money we got is already spent.
Lets not forget this is the same board that allowed a certain Mr Pearman to take control of the club and we duly ended up in a CVA.
Our own chairman is currently in a CVA.
Need i go on??
