| Whats going on with Penriths attendances lately?
8,000 crowd vs N. Queensland at the weekend despite being 2nd on the NRL ladder.
Anyone tell me why?

| Penrith people already support anther West sydney team, it's a classic case of over saturation. those that don't have spent their dole on the pokies and can;t afford a game day ticket anyway.
In 40+ years Penrith have only drawn a decent avg on two occasions.

| To answer my own question - I believe its actually because it was rubbish weather at the weekend and that has quite an impact on crowd numbers in Oz.
It aint got anything to do with Aussie No Rules!

| TBH The weather might knock off 2-3000 but reality is Penrith only have 10k home fans. The rest of their crowd numbers are boosted by fans from away clubs. It's a good job they've got a pokies empire or they would be another Cronulla.

| At least Salford get a lot more than the WA side. (I know JB loves Salford - seen many of his posts downtalking the original Reds).

you are witnessing the slow painful death of league as reality bites... forget the fantasy bubble blown up by the media and internet sites such as this one. league is a doomed sport.
league has never had any real competition in own backyard but this is rapidly changing as union, soccer and afl introduce new exciting alternatives to the poor downtrodden bogans of the western wastelands.
within 5 years league may not even exist as a viable professional sport... there will always be the simpletons who enjoy being bashed playing as amateurs but the glory days of the sport are numbered.
everywhere you look the sport is under pressure as clubs struggle to survive... storm are about to be swamped by union in melbourne and ultimately abandoned by news.
cowboys are pathetic and close to ruin.
warriors are beyond joke as league just wont be taken seriously by wider kiwi community.
cronulla are kaput.
gold coast are going downhill fast and will be destroyed by new afl club.
panthers going out the back door.
raiders already finished off by union.
newcastle are bankrupt.
the only thing keeping league alive is the media coverage which over states its real popularity. as soon as the coverage is pulled and focuses on more popular sports the bogans of sydney will easily follow more exciting sports and quickly forget about league.

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

| Nth Qld don't exactly draw crowds like some of the other teams to Penrith.
Have a look at a couple of weeks ago when the Panthers played local rivals the Eels the crowd I think was close to a sell out.

| Panthers v eels was a ground record.
The Cowboys have a very good team, but something is wrong somewhere and they are not performing.
Their crowds have suffered as a result because they don't look interested at all, once they start winning again and putting in the effort the people will come back.
Their average is down to 14,239, so that's not too bad seeing as they'd be wooden spooners if it wasn't for the Storm cheating.
They should get a decent crowd this weekend though because the Broncos are visiting, should have the fans out in force to see the cane toads belt each other senseless.
erich hartmann, at least when you troll, you show your true colours, well done mate.

| yeh, made up of 60% Eels fans! Take out the 12k Eels fans and your left with the 10k Penrith fans. They have no excuses, decent ground, decent team, stadium in the teams area, RL stroghold based on jnr olayers. Despite all those advantages they still have one of the smallest fanbases in the NRL. As I said it is over saturtion of that region.
In terms of jnrs, if the Panthers are in the NRL or not is irrelevant. It's the Panthers leagues club that is responsible for the Jnr's , not the Panthers NRL club. Given the poor fanbase, the Penrith Panthers are clearly not the ones inspiring these kids to take up RL!

| My god, you'd kick your own mother out of her house to get a team in the NRL playing out of Perth would't you?
Stop rubbishing every other teams crowds all the time in the hope they'll be kicked out to give a failed backstabber another run, as I said in another thread and you turned around and put a heap of false statements in regarding how much certain teams average, Penrith are up there with the best in the world for any Rugby clubs, yes it could be better, but so could everyone else.
And it's not like your team ever packed them in like sardines either.
I guess you'll be calling for Parramatta to be culled next season to get your precious team back because they only managed to average 17k this season in a 20k stadium, according to you, if they aren't hanging from the rafters each week, they're failures.
As for over saturation, you're taking the p1zzz again, there is stuff all promotion of RL anywhere, how can it be over saturation when all we get is AFL and the farking swans shoved down our throats?
Now that's over saturation and it's showing in crowds and TV ratings.
As for 60% eels fans at Penrith, how would you know, did you count them?
Would've been 5/6k tops.

| i wouldn't put much faith in nrl crowd numbers... they are obviously fake because they always seem to hover around the 15,000 average mark even though some games struggle to pull 5000 punters.
they obviously are counting feet not heads. this reminds me of the time back during the super league war when the roosters were playing at the sfs and they claimed there were 4000 in attendance but watching the tv you could actually count the fans in the ground on one hand!
the league fakers reckoned the punters were all hiding in the bars and were not seated.

Also driving to the AFL or Soccer will give them another place to go in their VL Commodores other than the local bottlo or Centrelink
