| Is it really the best way to get a scoreline from cup games that are tied after 80 mins??
Or would something like 2 halves ten mins each way be better then conversions if theres still no winner.

| Another 20 minutes onto one of the most tiring games on the planet? The Golden Point is by no means perfect, but it's the best we've got IMO.

| Having been lucky enough to actually play in Extra time game(lost by a try) and also watch Cas and Halifax game i would say it is a great way to finish a game.

I agree and it adds a lots of drama, it may be painfull to the loosing team but some1's goto to loose if its GP or replay or whatever, the only downside to it IMO is that the game may be won on a toss of the coin, who gets the ball first are going to have a mass advantage, look at cas v halifax, halifax kicked off and before they know it, its over.
But overall I think GP is a gd way

| I repeat what I said after the Cas v Fax Cup game: 10 min each way, then golden point if still undecided (as replays seem to be well out of the reckoning these days)

| Interesting the Cas fans in this thread love it. They'd have been screaming blue murder if they'd lost that match to a golden point without even touching the ball in extra time. That's no way to decide a contest and was well harsh on Halifax.
If they insist on finishing on the day then I'd play 10 minutes extra time with a Golden Try system. Drop and penalty goals can still be made but they wouldn't count until the end of that 10 minute period. A try would win the game there and then (unless the opponent has somehow managed to kick 4 drop goals or two penalties goals) That to me is far fairer than golden point because it's a test of both attack and defence rather than monotous drive towards the sticks and attempting drop goals.
I mean if a Cup Final was ever decided by a golden point basically because one side had won the toss of a coin got the ball first and chipped it over then to me that would totally spoil what had been a close fought game. It just isn't a fair rule.
For me though I don't see what was wrong with replays.

2 Cas fans for, 1 against. Hardly representative is it though?
FWIW, I agree with TB.
