I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up on here yet.
Thoughts?!...

| Had heard about a month ago that this was going ahead. Personally I think that, as the Canadians are effectively funding it, there's no risk for us in trying it.
I'd heard they were also going to sponsor the League 1 comp but not sure if that's going ahead too or if it's just the club being entered into L1.
Either way, worth a try and I hope people get behind it.

| If any French Canadians play will they be eligible to play for France? Or would we rather have Canada challenging instead of making France step up a level?

You realise they are just Canadians who happen to speak French, don't you?
Like saying, Jamaicans speak English and therefore they are English.

I thought that at first, but then I thought that most would have French relatives making them eligible for France. Would we rather push France on to compete with NZ, England and Aus or push Canada on to compete with Samoa, Tonga etc?

| MMMMmmmm. Great for your team if all your players are unemployed/self-employed or during the summer hols, at college or Uni'.
Otherwise, pointless conjecture, why don't they use the money to set up a competitive Canadian League??????

Why can't they play on a weekend? They can take a days holiday and/or be reimbursed by the club if they need an extra day, but it's only once or twice a year. Hardly a massive deal.

| I know the travelling distance involved for a lot of the games in C1 are already causing a serious issue for some players, but I guess a week or 2 away in Canada is more appealing than a day out in Gloucester.

| They don't need a week, they only need 2-3 days. It's only a 7-8 hour flight to Toronto. It's not like flying to Australia.
It's only once a year (or twice if they get in the playoffs).
The issue about part-time players having problems with travelling to/getting time off for away games is a real one. But that would be the case whether the away game is a hundred miles away rather than 3,000 anyway.

| The NZ Warriors fly to Perth for games and no-one makes a big deal out of it.

| I'd be up for it - only if Eriz Perez is commentating though.

| Entering league1 is crazy. If they have serious money to invest let them enter a team in super league.

That's the original mention. This latest mention about it likely being accepted hasn't.
