| Pretty much the same as it is now. Bordering on a minority sport, everywhere bar Aus, with no money in the game, again, bar Aus. There will be less people playing the game at grass roots (but this will be the same for every sport).

| Genuinely national at grassroots. Semi pro teams in Hemel, St Albans, Exeter, Plymouth, Cheltenham, Derby. Pro teams in Birmingham, Coventry, Bristol and Nottingham. Wales the fourth placed international nation. England competitive with Oz and NZ. France and Wales win occasionally against the big 3. Other Euro nations Coming through.

I love your optimism and I go along with your thoughts.
Let's hope for the game that these come to fruition.

The future is of course somewhere between these two poles. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that the superb growth of RL throughout the country will slow down or even reverse so saying that there will be less people playing at grass roots is either stupidity or a clumsy attempt at being provocative
Similarly, 10 years is far too short a period to expect professional teams in the likes of Coventry, Bristol and Nottingham
In 10 years, I expect the Conference to have established RL in many parts of the country and in some areas, I expect the local amateur League scene to have overtaken its Union hosts and neighbours in terms of popularity and playing numbers (Sport England have recently reduced their Union funding due to a decline in playing numbers)
Hopefully, with good management at the top, the Super League and Championship leagues will be competitive and commercially sound
And perhaps the most important, I hope that England will have hosted a successful World Cup which has re-ignited the national interest in our sport and England has tasted its first international tournament success in two generations
I am genuinely hopeful for the future of Rugby League in the UK but real sustainable growth takes time and patience

| Im not sure what Wembley71 has put is overly optimistic. Id certainly put it to the positive end of realistic, but its not over ambitious. People massively over-estimate the length of time it takes to move up to pro-level.
If we were to be ambitious, 3 french SL teams, the continued growth of the game in Wales including Crusaders as an SL side, a team in either Scotland or Ireland(preferably both). 2 SL sides in London and sides in the midlands, south yorkshire, south west, north east and cumbria.
An annual international competition between the home nations and france, with GB competing in the 4 nations. Genuine competition and genuine opportunities for the 2nd and third tier nations, with them having the opportunity to play in credible international competition against the big nations, not simply the lip service and less than token effort they get now.
As a minimum, another french SL side, growth in both london and wales. More international competition, semi-pro sides throughout the country, the continued expansion of the amateur game
and either a large raise in, or complete overhaul of the SC.

| Probably a 14 team SL, Crusaders will be replaced by A N Other, who will in turn have been replaced by A N Otherer. Quins will by known as something else at another ground with crowds of 3k, with the RFL boasting about their success. GB will have been re-born and will get stuffed 3-0 by the Aussies. Hull KR in their 15th season under Morgan will still be playing 5 drives and a kick. Wigan will be champions, Childs will STILL be the worse referee just behind Thaler.
I will be retired somewhere warm.

| Many more British players will have played down under which allows the positive combination of opportunities for young players over here and development of more experienced British players over there. The overseas contingent will return with their knowledge ready to pass on to our now developing youngsters to provide opportunities for more international success. I hope.

Withe the impending massive increases in the NRL salary cap they will take a lot of our top players, who may not come back.

| chelsea just pip manchester united rlfc(formerly salford and wigan) to the title by beating harlequins rl in the london derby.
next comes leeds (amidst claims they should be booted out due to the outdated facilities at headingley)
then hull city rovers. and huddersield make the top six play offs. with liverpool (widnes/saints/warrington) just missing out.
behind them comes catalans, crusaders, edinburgh eagles, dublin blues and tolouse olympique completing the table.*
*rfl wet dream
