| Just a question of interest really but do any of the clubs who make the Grand Final or the Challenge Cup Final make any financial gain for getting to the final and also do the winners of the events receive any prize money ?

| There is prize money and teams who get to finals also sell more shirts and tickets for other games so do benefit alot financially.

| Despite still being in the middle of recession Wires crowds have benefitted hugely from the cup win. If our ground was big enough our average would be higher.
Im not sure what the prize money is but i'd imagine its in the hundreds of thousands for a cup or final win

| I'm sure Eamonn Mcmanus said last year that losing a CC semi is a lot worse than a playoff semi as the rewards for Wembley are twice that of Old Trafford.

| Hull have said in the past that even just appearing in the CC final is worth much more than the grand final. Mainly because the grand finalists are only known a week before, so its harder to produce merchandise etc
last time we were in the CC final the club made 250k+ profit and we didn't even win

He also said a few months ago (when asked about the relative financial benefit of each final) that the Challenge Cup is much better financially for a club than the GF. He said that the prize money is shared amongst the players in both cases but that a club stands to make much more from a CC final appearance because the gate money is split only between the two finalists and the RFL whilst the GF gate money goes into a central pot that is then divided between all of the clubs rather than just the finalists. He said that Saints made very little from their GF appearances but did well financially from their CC final appearances.

I was indicating that once we come out of recession if we continue to have a little success that is the situation we will find ourselves in, I could probably have worded it better.
Secondly the south stand is almost always full but people dont want to pay 25 quid to sit on the side

Nothing to do with prize money, McManus stated that (in St Helens' case at least) prize money is always shared among the players, win or lose Saints wouldn't have made any more or less money. The financial gain is determined by the size of the gate money share (CC=3 way split, GF=9 way split therefore a club is likely to make about 3 times more from a CC final appearance).

How is the WCC money split? losing the GF could be significantly different to winning it, well if you can get a decent crowd for the WCC that is
