| We held an open meeting in the area tonight, so I just want to give the rugby league world the latest on our new stadium
The club hope to be in a position by the end of August to apply for planning permission if they can raise £50,000 by then to complete the things that need doing to have a strong application.
The directors will be looking at specs this Monday to determine a final design.
It will be a community stadium with amatuer clubs being involved, mainly Pendlebury United who have 14 teams, with this we will be able to apply for various grants, it will cost around £3m to build the stadium.
It will initially have a capacity of 5,000-7,000 which will be easily expanded if ever needed.
The builders believe they can have it completed within 12-14 weeks, with that being said, if everything goes to plan, and there are no hiccups at all, then Swinton will be playing in their new stadium next season.

| clubs and councils aways use the amatuer club playing there line to get the planning permission and stadium built. but once the stadium is built they price the amatuer clubs out of playing there.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

How much are you going to charge Salford to use it ?

| I hope there's going to be a bit of terrace for those who don't want to have to sit down all game?

Yes there will be standing areas, it will be like a smaller scale of the Halliwell Jones Stadium, but I think the club are deciding to have the two length ways stands seating and width standing.

| i think leigh miners where meant to play at the lsv but could not afford it.
another example is the widnes cup final(amatuer) is usually played at the stobarts but it was decided they would play it somewhere else because of the high rent at the stobarts. a lot of new stadiums claim to be community stadiums but then charge the community a ransom to use them.

I thought that Wigan council owned the LSV?
The best example is the Halliwell Jones, as it is to my understanding that it is used 7 days a week.

Leigh Miners were never involved in the LSV - Leigh East have got a new clubhouse, 3G pitches and grass pitches as part of the LSV complex. Although it hasn't been without it's problems (rent and not being given the number of pitches they were promised), it has provided them with facilities that could only be dreamed of at Grasmere Street.
As for Swinton, would be great for them to get a proper ground in their own area again rather than continue to stagnate at Sedgeley Park. Might finally see the return of some atmosphere at the games.

Leigh Genesis FC?
IIRC, they weren't best pleased with the amount of stewarding that the council seemed to be insisting on.

That was a case of a council run stadium being run to the exact requirements of the Green Guide, and the shock of the costs involved in that when compared to the rates at Hilton Park, where stewards worked for free or a nomial fee, something that the Stadium Management Company weren't willing to do (they wanted to be the employers of all the stewards and as such had to pay a 'proper' wage etc).
All sorted now though, touch wood.
