The weather must be really bad over that side of the pennines. I remember playing on solid pitches at Hill Top in Cottingham where the only soggy patch was at one corner!

Being serious though, for a pre-season game a hard pitch is the last thing a rusty, un-match-fit body needs playing the toughest game in the world.

I suppose you're right. Why worry about frozen pitches when your season starts in April?

The height of the stands at Widnes means that at this time of year, one touchline never gets any sun and can be frozen even when the rest of the pitch is fine. I do think Leigh made a sensible choice when they put undersoil heating in.

No fault at all should be directed at the Widnes club...The stadium is owned & run by Halton Borough Council NOT Widnes Vikings RLFC.

Wigan managed to get their game U20 v London Scholars played today at Orrell (Wigan won 42 - 10)

Just had the hound out this morning , even though no frost last night the ground is rock hard , unless there is a thaw and some rain to soften things up , it is doubtful any games will be on in the next few days
