| 17,120 at Leeds last night in poor weather and on Sky, which I thought was very encouraging, and also just shy of 15,000 at Saints, both good to see, Superleague definitely seems to be more popular this year with quite a few attendances up on last year(?) and also viewing figures on tv up aswell. Long may it continue

| If we disregard the 15k at saints which is clearly just because of their new stadium, as well as disregarding the attendance at Leeds which is clearly inflated by their good start to the season and WCC we can see that actually nobody went to watch Super League at all last night.
Im always cynical about these positive stats which are manipulated by the RFL, presenting two 15k+ attendances as good for the sport, when we make a true year on year comparison by ignoring the Saints attendance and Leeds attendance because of the external factors inflating the figures we can see that 0 people attended an SL game last night which is a figure identical to the amount of people who attended an SL game on Wednesday 9th of march 2011 or 0% growth. Dont fall for the RFL spin.

| Of the 30 SL fixtures that have been played so far which have corresponding fixtures last year, 17 show an increase in attendances and 13 show a decrease. St Helens and Salford playing at new stadia account for 6 of those 17 fixtures showing an increase.

So an increase overall then yeah? Good!

| We can be thankful that Widnes have replaced that joke Welsh folly team in Super League. This has resulted in increased aggregate attendances of 13,165 from 5 Super League fixtures thus far compared to last season.

Thanks for the update. I agree it’s really encouraging news. In particular, I agree with you about the new stadia, it’s so important for our sport to invest in its future by building new facilities that will ensure a clubs future for generations to come. When new stadiums are mooted years in advance, the cynical among us would say that they are pipe dreams and they will never happen but after a lot of hard work and investment Salford and Saints are seeing the rewards for their investments and commitment – great isn’t it

New stadia is very encouraging.
Who would have thought that a club like Salford would have posted 3 magnificent attendances in excess of 5K?

Terrible weather conditions last night... sub-arctic temperatures, torrential rainfall, flash flooding, cyclones, the lot! Summer rugby is the way forward.

Don't try and be positive on the VT please. It's not allowed.

I like positive news, so long as it's accurate, in context and backed up by reliable and incontrovertible evidence.

| i can see why the OP is trying to be positive but lets not forget we had 2 of the most succesful sides in the last 20 years playing at home against teams that both have good travelling numbers............i dont think its necessarily something to crow about .....more the fact that they SHOULD have got good attendances in there circumstances.
I personally dont think Leeds getting 17k and Saints getting 15k is that surprising really, i'd say its the norm and would have been expected crowd sizes considering .........
