| Quote Steve0="Steve0"But if you'd got the cheapest tickets, £30/£15 for concessions and then £20/£10 at headingley, that would have only cost £100, you chose to get the more expensive seats? There were still lots.of £30 seats left at St James park in the upper tier, so fans complaining it's too expensive could have taken those seats?'"
I thought I got the cheapest sitting seats a available . But even paying £10 for a 5 year old going to his first RL match in a 1/4 stadium is not great marketing. It would have been better if they said all kids free with one adult ticket . You would get more people in .
As for ST James park I got 3 £35 tickets to sit up high which is ridiculous when there were 12,000 £70 tickets that no one bought .
I would have thought it is easy enough to have 3 grading of tickets and then sell out the tickets from the pitch upwards . That way the early buyers are rewarded but then plenty cheaper seats for the casual fans and then sell the stadium out. If with a week to go you have sold 43 , 000 tickets with everyone in the better seats announce all remaining tickets at £10 each and sell the stadium out . Buns on seats makes the game look bigger with more interest

But then if you go down to £10 each for all remaining tickets, do you then annoy everyone that's bought a ticket and then everyone holds off buying a ticket for future games for the very last minute in the hope of getting a discount as they did in 2013...and that legacy is still living on today for this tournament?

I don’t think it would annoy everyone.
The earlier you buy tickets the better the seat you get .
The later you buy tickets then you are likely to get the worst seats. Only at the end do you offer a cheaper price to sellout but that way you will be up in the rafters so anyone waiting to get a cheaper ticket will be getting a worse view.
If I want to see a game or even the theatre I look at what I can afford and then the best seat available. I think most people do that.
I would not resent someone getting a cheaper seat than me knowing they are up with the bats , with a restricted view or have to climb 12 flights of stairs to get there.
Even if they have paid cheaper I would feel pleased that it has become a great event with a better atmosphere which is what you get in a full stadium.
For me it is simple it is about growing the game . If you resent someone getting a a £10 cheaper ticket than yourself it is pretty petty minded knowing it is for the benefit of RL which will have a marked benefit to your club.

| The problem with the pricing is people have seen the highest price tickets such as the ridiculous £70 at Hull and Saints and then bad word has spread and people then just think 'I won't bother then'.
The stadiums they are playing at are modern grounds with good views in all blocks, there simply isn't a need to pay the premium to sit on the half way line. There's too many price categories they only need 3 at most, one price for behind the sticks, one for down the sides and then one for the padded seats/corporate.
And while I appreciate they have a difficult job of not ripping off the people who booked tickets 2 years ago, a reduction in prices for the cost of living crisis would have gone down well on the PR front, instead they've stubbornly stuck to their guns and now appear to be in a trench they can't get out of now.

They did reconfigure the seating plan for St James park in the run up to it to make more category E seats available, they could do something like that for the remaining games as they haven't technically reduced prices, just reconfigured which areas are which categories, so you could downgrade more areas of the kcom to from grade c to D and move those who paid for C into another part of the ground.
All tickets for tonight's game are only £20.21 and £2.21 for concessions...so the crowd will be a good test for the theory of those saying ticket prices are too high.

Again though its the cost of getting to a game and the fact people will have work the next day, that will put people off. Also got to factor people who will have gone to the opener and booked finals tickets, not alot else left in the pot for most people. Id go tonight if it was on my doorstep but it isnt so ill watch on tv in the comfort of my own home, I suspect most will be the same.

Tonight's game will be a good bellwether yes as Donny isn't an RL heartland and it isn't a prime fixture. One of the Donny games was actually down to be a weekday afternoon during school holidays, but that was another thing that had to change with the years delay.
One factor that we have to consider compared with 2013 is that every game can be streamed whereas in 2013 it was really only the England games and Final on free TV the rest was on Premier Sports.
