Quote: kobashi "Wearing masks and social distancing was totally correct. I will argue lockdown never needed to be so long and that's about it. The alternative was be like Sweden and do nothing to get herd immunity. That never worked out too well for them.

How about India and how there government mishandled things.'"

Masks only make outcomes worse, much like the majority of so called PPE, studies done in operating theatres prove that infections are more prevelent when masks are worn against non mask wearing.
You need to have a basic grasp of what PPE actually is, why it's always the last form of having positive health and safety outcomes as well as k owing risk compenation/risk homeostasis means.

'Social distancing' also has a huge overall negative impact on pubic health.
Removing the elderly from family and friends causing even greater isolation is one of the singularly biggest causes of advanced death, this includes the effects of mental health as a whole, several studies have been done on this, the increase in mortality is 26% according to this, !https://www.pnas.org/content/110/15/5797 see also this study where it raises to a peak 48% increase https://www.nursingtimes.net/news/behin ... 4-04-2013/

We also know that social distancing has a massive effect on all age groups, children particularly are negatively affected, we know for a fact that suicides/suicide attempts have increased around 69% according to London Ambulance service, being socially isoltated and social distanced has a massive impact on people's mental health, to ignore that isn't just niave. https://www.mylondon.news/news/zone-1-n ... e-19183036

that's before you even get to the billions spent on enforcing social distancing that could have been spent on proper health and social care in communities.

As for Sweden, please explain what didn't work out too well for them?

Quote: kobashi "I would love to see it happen but not when there will be no Australia. Then the fact that the NRL will not release players so NZ and Tonga for example will bring over weak sides.

It's gonna be a world cup where England walk away with the world cup with no genuine contest. This will be an absolute farce and I am shocked the RFL are still going along with this.

Also how will England react when they are told the international players who play in the NRL cannot play.'"

The Aussie won't turn up next year either and neither will the Kiwis as the Kiwis do what the Aussies tell them to do.

Well, history has shown that the Aussies have turned up overseas 31 times over the past 10 years, but UK teams have turned up 20 times.

Of course in 2000 NZ didn't turn up.

The only thing between NZ RL and extinction is a shed load of volunteers and the NRL.........same sort of thing with English Rugby League....SKY tell them to jump and they ask "how high" c020.gif

Quote: Zoo Zoo Boom "Whilst ever we continually get beat at the international level in RL - we haven't beat the Aussies in series or WC since 1972 - yes 1972 - the interest will always be low. Look at the attendances for test with NZ we struggle to get 25k.

I came to Aus.to live in1968 and saw the reaction here to that 1972 WC result which in the final was a 10-10 score after extra time. GB were awarded the WC as they were the only team to win 3 out of 3 games in the matches played. The Aus. press and pundits were spitting chips because of a disallowed try by Graeme Langlands with one headline saying he was denied the greatest try ever scored! Not helping their mood also was the result of the 1970 Ashes series in Aus.which GB won 2-1. which meant that Aus. had failed to beat GB in 4 consecutive matches.

The French referee took a real hammering and also the French RL public were not too interested in a final which didn't feature France with a crowd of just over 4000 attending in Lyon.
