| As social media has developed over the recent years, coupled with polarising events such as; Brexit, coronavirus, and the election of world leaders, there has been a move towards people resorting to personal abuse to either try and get their point across, or more often, to signify that they have lost the patience, or the evidence to reasonably argue their case.
As a result, there has also been a rise in online bullying and the ugly internet practice of a ‘pile-on’ where several people will try and silence an individual through name calling and personal abuse.
These practices are not welcomed on RLFANS.COM where we defend everyone’s right to an opinion and to be a part of the discussion.
It has always been the case that some posters will occasionally write comments or start threads, that are provocative, and often written from a ‘devils advocate’ perspective to get a rise out of other posters. In these cases, if you feel that you cannot argue against such an opinion, the best / recommended course of action is to simply ignore the post and avoid making a reply to that thread. You also have the option to ‘Ignore’ a particular user so that you can’t see their posts. On some occasions the best form of action for your own 'peace of mind' is to simply stay quiet.
We are a community, and we would like to think that our love of Rugby League would allow us to respect many varied views and opinions. Feel free to discuss to your hearts content, but please respect other posters and desist from insults/abuse.
