Having seen the call in League Express for their abolition I watched the Super League games and NRL games with one eye on the scrums and how they affect the structure of the game against having no scrums.

I have to say that in my opinion as a natural break and re-set of offence and defence they still look better than the entire two teams re-setting and then waiting up to 20/30 secs with the second marker stood out of line who then walks into position.

I think the scrum still works as a way to restart play and allow a play with a limited defence in the back line.

In my opinion the scrum should stay.. the NRL version looks better....

Agree and if the World Cup goes ahead next year how would we cope when every body else is having scrums

I don't really see the point in persisting with uncontested scrums. It's a farce that only serves the purpose of removing the forwards for a bit so the backs can run at a more open field.

Working abroad for long stints, I have tried to introduce foreigners to watching rugby league (on satellite/cable broadcasts) and often they like the game but don't get this part. And it's a pain in the ar** to explain what the point still is.

I know scrums are pointless, but I like how a team can have a set play and attack the opponents with their backline, because all the forwards have just been grouped together when packed down.
They should return when Covid-19 isn't much of a threat....
