Pyke constantly mentioned Castleford's poor record in St Helens saying it's 40 years since their last win then saying it was in 1990. Surely even he could've worked out that is 30 years ago, not 40.

It was 1990, btw. A 29-16 defeat for us. I was there.

IMHO, Clive Tyldesley was the best RL commentator I've listened to when ITV showed games live on Saturday afternoons.

The Australian guy who worked on was it (Premier Sports) might be way off, or was it a RL world cup in Aus/NZ ? Anyway he was superb, informative and witty with it.

I'll not disagree that Cas have exceeded most peoples expectations in the margin of defeat. However, "playing magnificently" is stretching the bounds of credit.

Pyke is really hard to listen to IMO - sounds like every word is being forced out of his chest. Ben Proe is just as bad but neither are as bad as Terry O'Connor - how the f are Sky persisting with him?

I think Ben Pro is the best of the bunch.

I quite like S Pyke on the radio for the BBC, when he's usually being understated, obviously Sky are asking him to express himself maore, to be a bit louder, it doesn't sound natural for him, when you have ppl like T O'Connor and B McDermott as co-commentators IMO you need quieter and more understated commentators. I prefered A Voss when he was starting out with C9, he's shouting too much for my liking now, it's Murdoch's fault, lol.

i agree they just went on too long. up until mid 2000's they were very good. i don't think it helped filling the box full of people fighting to get out the same old sound bites then adding Cummins who brought nothing at all.

Eddie was a fantastic presenter imo and he could have kept doing that job alone forever and not many would argue. It does need looking at the current crop of main commentators are pretty awful.
