Quote: DGM "It's pretty frustrating.
Kear 2005/06, promoted from an assistant - won the cup
Peter Sharp, assistant NRL coach, 2006-2008. great 06-07, awful start to 2008
Agar, promoted assistant, 2008-2011, awful
Gentle, NRL assistant, 2012-2013, underwhelming despite a cup final
Radford, promoted assistant, 2014 - unforgettable cup wins, but a lot of frustrating underachievement
Each one of those has been a gamble. For a change I'd like us to go and recruit that proven world class coach, but I fear that Last/Purtill will string a run of games together and one gets the role fulltime - that seems to be the Hull way.'"
You could do with Tony Smith from your beloved neighbours.
He' turned both Leeds and Wire into winning sides and he could do the same with FC.
Of all the current SL coaches, he would be as good as it gets. Maybe even Shaun Wane, to run alongside his international responsibilities.
With FC having such a strong physical side, he would have you playing hard and winning silverware.
Outside that, you may end up with a current Aussie assistant but, if they are successful, invariably, they tend to look for a head coach position back home.
