Quote: Pumpetypump "It has confused me for about 15 years that a club with the potential of Hull hasn't found a world class coach to properly cement them as potential champions. For me they are the only club in our country that could remotely aspire to 30k gates (not every week). Radford is a grafter and probably a great bloke, but him being head coach at Hull always baffled me.'"
It's pretty frustrating.
Kear 2005/06, promoted from an assistant - won the cup
Peter Sharp, assistant NRL coach, 2006-2008. great 06-07, awful start to 2008
Agar, promoted assistant, 2008-2011, awful
Gentle, NRL assistant, 2012-2013, underwhelming despite a cup final
Radford, promoted assistant, 2014 - unforgettable cup wins, but a lot of frustrating underachievement
Each one of those has been a gamble. For a change I'd like us to go and recruit that proven world class coach, but I fear that Last/Purtill will string a run of games together and one gets the role fulltime - that seems to be the Hull way.
