Agreed. I'd pay to see Leeds v Wigan at the end of the season.

| i think this might be an opportunity to get new fans to the game rather than existing fans. we all know there are lots of traditionalists (quite a few on here) who only want to see the pure form of the game, so good luck to them they still have an unaltered format of the game to watch. so what we do with this is create a weekend like the aussies have done, with a fast exciting set of games that don't last forever, put a little festival on outside - beer fest, food fest, bands, kids entertainment etc. set a weekend aside when the weather is nice (in theory) and market it at families (group tickets etc). as for the game tinker a little more with the rules - the extra point zone is a good idea, but maybe add a couple more innovations. possibly invite a couple of union teams if going into an unfamiliar league area like the midlands, maybe a championship best of team. make it a bit like twenty 20 cricket in terms of the marketing (where the game is only a small part of the experience, and there's plenty of other stuff to do)
or if we want to go the whole hog - invent new teams and go for a draft like the 100 cricket have done, not really in favour of that though.
so if we want to do a nines or sevens thing, we either do a full on version like outlined above or we don't do it at all - not much point in putting on a low key event with reserve team players
